Mike Score was born in Beverly, Yorkshire England on November 5th. A hairdresser by trade, he formed A Flock Of Seagulls with his brother Ali in Liverpool in 1979. By 1981, with the addition of Frank Maudsley and Paul (Reno) Reynolds, the classic line up was complete.

It was while trying to create a look similar to David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" that fellow band member Frank Maudsley placed his hand on the middle of Score's head and the famous Waterfall hairstyle was born. Referenced in TV programs (That 70's Show, Friends), commercials (Swiffer Sweeper, Cape Cod Potato Chips) and immortalized on the silver screen in Adam Sandler's "The Wedding Singer" and Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" it has taken on an iconic status all its own.

With being the first band signed to Jive Records and (BeBop Deluxe guitarist) Bill Nelson and (Gong bassist, OMD and Teardrop Explodes producer) Mike Howlett at the production helm the third single, "I Ran" from A Flock of Seagulls' 1982 eponymous debut, became a worldwide hit charting at number 1 in Australia and Top 10 in the US. The album achieved similar acclaim, winning a Best Instrumental Grammy Award for the song "D.N.A.". 

More success, including the UK Top Ten smash "Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You)" from their second album Listen in 1983 and "The More You Live, the More You Love" from 1984's The Story of a Young Heart followed as they became one of the darlings of MTV. Unfortunately, personnel problems forced the original band members apart in 1986. Since then, after a brief foray into the restaurant business and with an ongoing passion for sailing and sailboat restoration, Mike continues taking a current Seagulls line up on the road. 

Three decades on and with his first solo album, the singles "All I Wanna Do" and "Somebody Like You" see Mike bringing his distinctive voice and the melodies from his synth pop past into the current day.
