Dream City: Metropolis - Overworld Theme

This remix was initially a piece I worked on as part of the latest Overclocked Badass album project. I couldn’t come up with a great protagonist or antagonist theme that wasn’t done to death, but I remembered Dark Pit was a pretty cool character, and his theme was wonderful. 

The arrangement was nearly completed, at which point I was going back and forth with one of the project directors about its sound. In the end, I decided that this particular piece didn’t fit the tone and feel of the project. So I started another remix for that, and decided to complete and release this one as a remix on my own.

The difficulty in this one was that the original song already sounds like it is a cover, performed by a group of incredible musicians! It was tricky to come up with a style that offered something different, but incorporated most of the great parts of the original theme.  

After about a week and a half of experimenting, I finally found a groove in this one that I felt was worth exploring. The synth leads made it sound different enough, and the chopped up guitar parts echoed the original while adding my own ‘can’t play guitar’ flavor. Within my limitations, it worked.
