Solid Steel (18th April) It's all about Record Store Day this week and we've asked some of the finest Independent record stores in the UK to contribute mixes in a 6 way Soundclash.
First up it's <a href="http://www.roughtrade.com/">Rough Trade</a> and DJ Bobafatt has mixed up a diverse selection suggested by Rough Trade staff, including RSD releases by Eric Lau, Grace Jones and LCD Soundsystem, plus music from Younghusband and Amazing Snakeheads who will be playing at Rough Trade East on the day.
Manchester's <a href="http://www.piccadillyrecords.com/counter/index.php">Piccadilly Records</a> are up next, represented by Kickin' Pigeon and continue with more quality selections from Ste Spandex, Begin and the sublime Monday Club/Tuesday Nite by Manchester's very own BE, plus the classic Twilight by Maze, Stalker and DBH. 
 <a href="http://www.soundsoftheuniverse.com/">Sounds of the Universe</a> complete the first part of this vinyl Soundclash opening with Panoram, a Truth is Light edit and followed by some deep jazz from Skymark, Dam Shake, Avolon Emerson and Tenderlonius on their own Sounds of the Universe record label.

KISS Midnight Mix

This little gem is from back in 2003, way before Omegaman. One of my best buddies Andy Travers & I worked on a bunch of tracks - we were known as NEMO (before the Disney movie)- we spent our days crate digging for lounge samples & funky beats. HEY! was done on an old Atari ST computer with external midi sound modules (Korg, Ensoniq + an Akai sampler) + Greg Dean playing some super cheezy keys - all bounced down through a sound desk to cassette (it was the perfect soundtrack for my old 1960's Hillman Minx.) We did some great tunes back then along with the master of midi & keys Phil Grove, the lovely vocals of Linda Janssen - the artwork for this is by the incredibly talented Nigel O'Neill - enjoy!

I've been collecting records and 45s since 1982 and my world travels have allowed me to dig for 45s in many foreign lands. For the past 9 years I've been a seller and trader of rare funk boogaloo soul rockabilly and I have a large warehouse at my disposal in Wisconsin. As my mission is to find that one special lick or break I go through thousands of singles every week and in my 30 plus years of digging I've found some killers fortunately.

This is the same agency that handles my dj bookings.
I wanted to present a master mix that hopefully would hold the listeners attention and still have moments where the songs would work together to tell a story. I am really also into my Latino rhythms as I have family in South America and dig in Colombia etc for tunes.

I love 7" singles as they are small and easily portable and many times artists released killer tunes as one offs and you'd never hear again from these artists. Artists that had little resources to press up larger quantities or not enough material for z full album, hence legendary releases are often found only in this format.

The 5 favorite records? ...That's a really difficult question.. Almost impossible to answer, I have thousands of records that are my favorite right now what comes to mind are:

@ronisize himself sat down with Boiler Room's Gabriel @Szatan to discuss the Mercury Prize-winning smash, its legacy over two decades, and a deluxe 20th anniversary reissue package which was exclusively revealed to BR here. The "New Forms" remixes included here will feature on the forthcoming release.

It was recorded live in front of an audience during a Boiler Room x Classic Album Sundays session at London's Miranda (Ace Hotel), September 2017.
