To close the year 2021, Oddity presents the long awaited various artists, Odd Echoes vol. 5, loaded with hypnotic melodic cuts from new and returning artists.

The V.A, showcases the label's cohesive, yet diverse and evolving melodic sound, with a number of artists brought together to create this magical journey.

Opening the V.A label boss Fur Coat delivers a new collaboration with Alfa Romero, introducing us to the construction of the deepest, most ethereal and melodic sounds, where artists like Adamant, Baime, aacht, Esoteric Circle and Andrea Martini show a coherent crescendo in the timeline of the compilation.

Continuing the story, we can see new names joining the record label like Casper Cole, Rinzen, Jos & Eli, delivering some diverse melancholic yet euphoric cuts.

Digging further into the compilation, sounds like those of the collaboration of Jonas Saalbach and Tantum, or the originals by Remcord, Lexer, SOEL, 19:26, Beswerda, Sascha Breamer bring a touch of darkness that transport us to another dimension in sound.

Last but not least, Aalson, The Element MT, Daijan ft. Running Pine, Black Peters and Jody Barr, present some closing-oriented emotional cuts, with some of them including some breaks or experimenting with some unique synths and textures, to ensure the perfect closure to this story we call Odd Echoes.

Bristol-based duo Tom and Ian Griffiths, a.k.a Icarus, are back on Anjunadeep with new single ‘Only’.

The pair made their long-awaited return to the label last April with ‘Moment In Time’, a single that perfectly encapsulated their distinctive brand of emotive and melodic house. ‘Only' sees Tom and Ian produce a wistful, piano-infused offering, with a two-step groove firmly rooted in UK dance music.

Having garnered over 120 million Spotify streams to date, written and produced hits like ‘October’ and ‘Home’, featuring AURORA, and remixed names like Jessie Ware, Pendulum, Martin Solveig, Wilkinson and RÜFÜS DU SOL, Icarus are fast becoming one of the UK’s most sought-after dance acts.

Icarus have recently performed a closing set at Anjunadeep’s third label takeover of iconic venue  Printworks London, and the first weeks of the year see the duo perform headline shows in London, Manchester and Bristol.

“We've really been enjoying writing at slightly quicker tempos lately. 130bpm+ just feels so energetic to us, and we've been feeling inspired by the resurgence of the garage sound, especially with a lo-fi texture to it.

With 'Only' we wanted to create something that was melodic and enjoyable in headphones but still upbeat and grooving enough for a club environment. We recently dropped this tune at Printworks and the reaction was great, so we hope we've achieved our aim!” - Icarus

Jordin Post makes his Anjunadeep debut this February, teaming up with Qrion (Momiji Tsukada) to remix her single 'Your Love', taken from her just-released album ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’.

Post's debut comes following several releases on Anjunabeats, and a slew of successful releases under his projects KUURO and Juventa. Post and Tsukada build on the original's bittersweet vibe by introducing a dreamy arpeggiated call-and-response lead and a washed out bridge of warm chord progressions. 

The first single off the album, ‘Your Love’ was supported by SiriusXM Chill, Jason Bentley on KCRW, Anna Lunoe, Dosem, and Jody Wisternoff, to name a few.

An album built on nostalgia and sentimentality, ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever' pays homage to Qrion’s memories of childhood and her dad, and captures the feelings she felt when moving from her hometown of Sapporo to San Francisco to pursue a career in music. Speaking on the album, Qrion exclaims “I connected with my old memories - the feelings of spending time with my Dad, the time I lived with my family in Japan, and the small but important moments of my life from my life in Sapporo.”

‘I Hope It Lasts Forever' is the latest triumph in a career that’s seen Qrion release on Mad Decent, Last Night on Earth, and This Never Happened, and be named on Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30, adding to notable support from the likes of 88Rising, Clash, Mixmag and Billboard.

There’s no denying the ascent of Raphael Mader over the past 2 years. In spite of the shutdown, his ability to craft a memorable riff and sheer quality of production has seen him rise to become a genuine juggernaut in the melodic techno scene; now, with The Blinding EP, his latest 4 track EP that finds him returning to Renaissance, the convoy shows little signs of slowing.

“I’ve seen a lot of producers highlighting personal influences in their music recently. I guess with the absence of nightclubs everyone’s had to look elsewhere for creative inspiration,” explains Raphael, “but even before the fateful pandemic arrived, I was always more introspective in my approach. My music has, and will always be, my personal therapy - it’s a direct response to my day-to-day life and the events that transpire around me.”

And what a life he must lead because the lens through which Raphael Mader views the world is clearly (pun intended) very beautiful indeed. All 3 original tracks on the EP possess those ethereal, ‘hairs-on-the-back-your-neck’ chills that are so hard to distill; it’s confirmation of a world-class producer, delivering world-class vibes. Whether title track, Blinding, Sail Away or the slightly edgier Fundamental, all more than qualify for the category, ‘goosebumps’.

London-based John Monkman is the founder of Beesemyer Music but also serves up his rich sounds on Kompakt, Last Night On Earth and Drumcode. He works across multiple styles and as much as making music for the club, he also cooks up richly atmospheric and emotive music. 

He has worked with Pete Tong, Bryan Ferry and Nile Rodgers and when on tour, he plays live in the world's best venues. First up is the immediately arresting 'Perception' with its flashes of synth, whirring drones and textured drums. Spoken words bring a sense of paranoia as twitchy effects, icy percussion and swinging drums all work you into a frenzy. Monkman took inspiration from a Timothy Leary interview for the record envisioning “a phrase repeating with a synthesizer response, in essence a conversation between man & machine”. 

Second cut 'Impulse' is a more groove-driven tune with kicks that rock back and forth under slapping hits. The synth designs are futuristic and the whole vibe is one of intergalactic exploration of the unknown. Both of these hugely accomplished tracks will bring a scene of cinematic drama to any set.

I'm from Berlin, influenced by the vibrant scene of the 90s and the legendary Tresor Club. This time had a decisive influence on me and made me the artist I am today. My love for music is multi-layered and I deeply enjoy sharing this passion with others. My sets reflect a wide range of musical influences, and I always aim to take the audience on a unique musical journey inspired by the diverse sounds.
