F.I.D.E.L is the avatar project of Paris-based Composer/Producer/A&R, DIlouya, UK Funk & Soul Legend, John Turrell (Smoove & Turrell) and Hip-Hop, Soul/Jazz major force, Sly Johnson (Saïan Supa Crew). On « All About Love », Dilouya shares a clavinet-filled, infuriated uptempo track reminiscent of Stevie Wonder’s golden era and Thundercat’s eccentric sound on which John Turrell delivers an anthem-like performance tackling the lack of solidarity in the paradox of our ultra-connected world.

Albert’s Favourites are proud to announce the signing of new artist Rupert Cox along with the release of his debut solo single, Embers. 

Rupert is an engaging and versatile pianist whose sound has already reached people through work with China Moses, Judi Jackson, Rhys Lewis, Myele Manzanza and many more.

Citing Blake Mills, Genevieve Artadi and Brad Mehldau as pivotal influences, his solo music covers a huge range, often melancholic, reflective and cerebral but unafraid to play with positivity and joy at times. 

His introduction to the world, Embers, carries the imprint of artists like Eno and Laraaji, a beguiling, ambient leaning piano exploration, lifted along by sparse percussion, sensitive synthesiser and guitar play.

The single introduces you to some of Rupert’s rich sonic palette while leaving so much to be discovered. We hope you’ll be looking forward to hearing more from this essential new creator in the London music community.

In this live talk with Tama Sumo, Lakuti and musclecars, the New York legend sets the record straight.

DJ, producer and remixer Yvonne Turner was one of the only women instrumental in shaping New York's early house scene, yet her story has gone largely undocumented. Born in Harlem in 1953, she started DJing regularly by the late '70s, playing weekly parties in Flatbush and getting her musical education at The Loft. There, she says, she learned how "good music" should sound. It inspired her to start going to the studio and sharing her musical revelations with other people.

As a woman producer, she was often relegated to the small print on records, bumped to associate or co-producer status or marked as a mixer instead of a remixer. Many of the male vocalists she worked with got credit for the music. But Turner penned some acclaimed house tracks, such as "Set Fire To Me," "Music Is The Answer" and the official remix of Whitney Houston's "I'm Your Baby Tonight." While Turner took a back seat for a few years, deciding to teach in elementary schools and wind down her touring, she recently got back in the studio and wants to set the record straight about the history of house and her place—and many other women's—within it.
