This year saw record attendance at our favorite day-into-night open air summer series, Habitat. One of the changes we made this season was to have one resident and one guest DJ play the whole party open to close. For this beautiful August night I invited my talented friend David "Sully" aka Roams to navigate the deep, minimal, and melodic spectrum of house & techno with me. It was his first time playing Habitat and it surely won't be his last. We tagged ones the whole way, can you guess who played each track?

This is my direct support set for Harrison BDP's Seattle debut in July 2022.

All-time night at Monkey Loft! The indoor club room hit capacity an hour after doors opened, and by the time my set started out on the deck there was a line around the block 😳 it was a bit of a midnight stampede when they finally opened the deck stage and I started my first track. The dancefloor was full by about my third track... no turning back now!

If I had to pick a few artists who have really helped me craft my own style, one of them would undoubtedly be the great Jeremy Olander. When I was first learning to DJ I idolized Olander, spending tens of hours recreating his mixes and studying his level of precision. To open the night headlined by Olander while representing the Elements collective alongside Web and Marq was such an honor. A night I'll never forget, and this recording I'll cherish forever. Jeremy Olander Opening Set @ Q Nightclub, Seattle (06/07/18)

Live recording from my set supporting Eli & Fur at Q Nightclub presents Field Trip on September 13, 2018. 

The room started to really fill up at about the 30min mark as the Porter Robinson show at WaMu Theater wrapped up and attendees came to Q looking for an afterparty. Towards the middle of my set I brought out some higher energy tunes for the suddenly packed crowd, before ultimately working back down in preparation for Eli & Fur to grace the decks. One of my favorite sets I've ever played and I can’t wait to be back soon.

LOST is famous for bringing quality house music to Seattle for over 20 years, and my first time playing the monthly was such a rush. I played the second slot in between two local legends, after Sean Majors and before Julie Herrera. The vibe there is unlike any club night I've ever experienced in Seattle. As a DJ you're right there on the dancefloor and you can really hear & see the energy of the crowd. This was one of those sets where you have nothing planned except for a few "must play" tracks, and I'm incredibly happy with how it came together in the moment. The recording includes the crowd mic to give a feel for the energy in the room. Thanks for listening!

It was incredible to witness Rodriguez Jr.’s live setup at Habitat - a house & techno weekly presented by Studio 4/4 in Seattle. After his set he challenged me to mix in to one of his loops using only the room mains, which was a hilarious exchange and certainly a challenge. The crowd rode the vibe set by Rodriguez Jr. into the final hour, and I rounded out the night with some of my favorite higher-energy melodic tracks. It was a show we'll all remember for a long time. Mike Devlin - Rodriguez Jr. Closing Set (05/09/19)

Live recording of my set from Opulent Temple's Sacred Dance (aka White Costume Party) at the Canvas Event Space Seattle on June 15, 2019.

This set is a great representation of my musical interests at the moment, and some of my favorite music to DJ. The tracks contain a balance of house and techno influences, some 80s tones with a touch of acid, and a sprinkle of nostalgia & euphoria.

I included the crowd mic to relive the energy of the space. I played after Nick Vander Stricht who opened the night well, and the room started to fill up about half way through my set. The crowd was AMAZING and the outfits I saw were phenomenal. I had a blast playing my first Opulent Temple event, and I can't wait to be back. Thank you!

Live recording of my closing set for Studio 4/4 presents Habitat at Monkey Loft on August 7, 2019.

What an honor to close the night after Black Velveteen, Trevor Little, FooFou, and Miss Min.D! For this set I planned to evenly blend Habitat's three guiding forces: deep, minimal, and melodic. The artists playing before me ended up leaning heavier towards deep house & melodic tech, so in an attempt to balance the force I ended up playing more minimal grooves while still weaving in some melodic beauties. It was incredible to see the dancefloor alive as ever in that last hour, with a good chunk of the crowd staying out all the way until the final beat. Thanks for listening, it was a truly incredible night!

I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to set the stage for Anjunadeep heavyweight 16 Bit Lolitas on a sold out night. The fans at The Underground are hardcore music enthusiasts. It was amazing to see so many smiling dancers packing the club before the headlining act. The video jockey was on fire too, loved seeing him rock out!  Thanks for listening.

I played my first Noise Complaint show about two years ago. Month after month the crowd at NC brings it from the opening moments right up until the closing bell. It is one of the most relentlessly dedicated fanbases I've seen in Seattle. I was stoked and a tad surprised to see such a healthy dancefloor half way through my opening set, but let's be honest... the crowd at Noise Complaint ALWAYS knows how to get down 😉

Such a fantastic party and I can't wait to be back again soon.

Opening Set for Blond:ish @ Noise Complaint (12/13/19)

Live recording from my set before Cristoph at The Underground in Seattle on March 7, 2020.

For this set I leaned a bit towards the progressive end of the spectrum, knowing the club’s bookings and crowd are primarily centered around trance. My goal was to balance the climactic uplifting melodies with some raw and minimal grooves. I’m really pleased with the mix as a whole, capped off by setting up Cristoph with a catchy riff from one of his favorite TV series.

It was an incredible night start to finish with my TikiTiki comrade Dowsk opening the room tastefully, and Cristoph putting on a masterclass in mixing progressive, house, and techno until the club closed down at 4AM. I hope this recording gives you a glimpse of the energy from that night at The Underground.

Mike Devlin is a Seattle-based DJ and producer whose distinctive style is known to seamlessly blend elements of 4/4 electronic music including house, techno, electro, breaks and progressive. His influences stem from cross-genre curators such as John Digweed, Damian Lazarus, and DJ Tennis. Mike started playing and performing instruments at the age of 9, and began as a DJ in 2013.
