I don't often write about pointed subject matter...usually I'm more stream-of-conscious in my lyric writing.  This particular song....well, there's not a whole lot of reading between the lines.  It is what it is.  Our species is devolving.  Common sense has gone out the window.  We take our lead from political figures like they're the new Christ.  We've become black and white, and seeing the "gray matter" is rapidly becoming folk-lore.  We believe we can emit our built-in ability to empathize digitally.  We now communicate via knee-jerk reactions, often to things we read posted by people we don't even know.  We follow a media that no longer reports news, but rather opinions:  opinions they believe will sell ads.  Social media regurgitates it, and via AI, knows which way you lean and spews it to you non-stop to the point where it's all you see, so therefor, it's all you know.  Anyway - I don't want to bring you down!  Please spin the track and share!

Misinformation.  Keyboard cowboys.  Let's sell some ads.  Divide them all.  Take the news and spin it.  Take the spin and spew it.  We don't care about your privacy.  Let's re-define 'freedom'.  Opportunism.  Hypocrisy.  Feed them more.  Make them want it.  Take their fear and digitize it.  Monetize it.  Feed it back to them.  Let's sell more ads.  Dumb them down.  Repeat.

Mike Gendron, aka "Mike G" has been an active contributor to the Providence, RI music scene since his first gig at the Livingroom when he was just 15 years old with his first band, Cyanide. 

He's written, sang and played lead guitar for various outfits since the mid 1990's. During most of the 2000's, Mike played lead guitar for the band GrandEvolution and got to open up for acts such as Soul Asylum and Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo. In 2008 he formed Mike G & Associates, and has played shows quite extensively as both an original and cover act. Mike released his first LP, "The Traveler's Diary" a year later, which won him "Best Singer/Songwriter" in Motif Magazine's Best-Of music polls, and a “Best Male Vocalist” nominee in the Providence Phoenix “best-of” music polls, and garnered stellar reviews in both publications. 

In September of 2014, Mike released his follow-up LP, "The Day That I Give Birth". The summer of 2021 will see the birth of Mike's latest full-length release: #Devolve.

He continues to play shows and record as a solo artist, and front-man for RI's first known Neil Young tribute band, "Young Rust". Mike was also featured as the lead guitar player for “Lennon Live” – a musical tribute to John Lennon, fronted by his uncle and fellow “Associate”, Peter Gendron. Lennon Live has played a few sold-out shows at Mohegan Sun Casino in CT, as well as various events in and around New York City.

As of Jan 2021, Mike & the boys from Young Rust have been busy recording Mike's 3'rd original offering to be called "#Devolve", expected to be released in the summer of 2021. In this semi-concept album, Mike explores the rapid decline of the human race and the sea of hypocrisy in which our species exists.
