A week today, April 17, it's a men-only night.

It'll be my first men only cooking show for pampered chef and so another paddle in uncharted waters.  Do men really want this stuff though, is it, will it, ever be possible to break from the direct selling 'partyplan' tradition?

Well, it's something we've talked about elsewhere on these pages and we'll soon find out.

We like eating cakes - actually we probably love eating cakes, but making them is a different matter.  It is a precise art and it can go wrong, or maybe not as right as we'd like. So,  inspired by a recent baking programme on TV, Mike is on safe and successful territory thanks to cookies, brownies, whipped  cream and fail-safe pampered chef techniques. Great beers, some Delta Blues and basic, no-frills, great cooking.  Chilli, Yorkshire puddings, sausages, pizza... Everything's great on it's own, but altogether and it's an irresistible combination.

I happened to mention ' baking bread...Paul Hollywood....BBC 2 etc.' and the fact that I never have.  Baked bread, that is.  Oh dear.  What have I started.

I'm not a chef or a cook for that matter.  I'm just a bloke that likes to cook at the end of a busy day -  meals that my family might just enjoy.
So after years in media and more recently teaching, I'm now an independent pampered chef consultant, introducing people to amazing high quality kitchenware by having a go with the kit first.  A complete change but I wanted something for me for a change rather than the great career path. We all seem to have a great time either watching or taking part. So why not?  A change is as good as...etc.
