"2020 was a very difficult year for all of us, but we managed to get through it doing the things we love. We made lots of music while reflecting on past, present & future.  There seems to be a light of hope for this year. We'll never forget that in June 2020 we were scheduled to play Buttons for the first time, in addition to a European tour. We were soooooo excited! Nonetheless, we look forward to doing it in 2022.  We can't wait to be able to throw our own parties again, Fun Fun and Leftclub in Buenos Aires, and to be able to travel and share our music with dance floors around the world.

Empathy is the codeword when it comes to The AM's second solo EP: The 'Sexworker' EP. A short story through music and art, allowing you a moment to walk a mile in another seasoned professional's shoes... Imagine life through her eyes, her thoughts, her feelings, her actions and motivations as her work takes her from flirty fun to a much more severe and fierce role as a vigilante, fighting for justice and retribution for women who've been abused and wronged. As the EP progresses, the further we're plunged into this dark nocturnal world of carnal chaos, deceit and danger.

Sat in a not-so distant neon tomorrow, downtown Detroit, this is the vivid concept and narrative conjured by Detroit native, violinist-turned-techno artist The AM (Ann-Marie Teasley) Sliding into our collections since her debut tracks last year as one half of HLX-1, 2022 has been all about The AM solo releases; in March we had 'Black Majik' on Tresor. Now on Deeptrax 'Sexworker' is another revelation from the agenda-setting artist who's crafted a completely immersive narrative that ranges from the playful electro beats of 'Intercosmic Lap Dance' to the runaway juggernaut 'Black Galaxy' (a collaboration with Scan 7's Track Masta Lou). Each track adding layers of tension and intrigue, cutting through the late night sleaze and exploitation with raw machine soul, 'Sexworker' is steeped in detail... But loaded with enough space for your imagination.

Originating from Italy and Indonesia, Tempestfeather is a music selector and writer based in Berlin.

Growing up between Europe, Asia, and Africa, Tempestfeather developed a flair for wideranging and nuanced storytelling. Exposed to an idiosyncratic blend of cultures, she cultivated an early interest in rhythm and sound— both musically and linguistically. After training in classical guitar and performing as a vocalist in rock bands, she explored the realm of electronic music, honing her craft as a DJ — and never looked back.

As a music selector, her sound was conceived in Cairo, shaped in London and refined in Berlin.

Drawing on a diverse range of influences, Tempestfeather’s DJ sets blend tempos and style in a polychromatic, textured sonic experience — leaning towards a left-field, bass-heavy sound that is
not bound by genres.

In May 2022, she debuted on the infamous Hör Berlin for the label Mother’s Finest. She also played across Berlin, Munich and Leipzig, at venues including Mjut, Repeat and Minimal Bar — notably warming the floor for the likes of Objekt and Hodge at OXI.

2017 sees Dekmantel celebrating its 10th anniversary. A decade ago, the Amsterdam crew threw their first party in the Dutch capital; two years later Dekmantel Records followed. To celebrate this special occasion, the label will release ten EPs over the course of 2017 – every month one, starting in March, with the first EP dropping today - from artists that have shaped them into what they are today. On the bill are, amongst others, Ricardo Villalobos, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Fatima Yamaha, Legowelt, and Tom Trago.

For this series, Dekmantel invited producers who are close to their hearts, have been with them since day one or made a big musical impact on the crew. Amongst these are longtime friends like Juju & Jordash, Palms Trax, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Joy Orbison and Young Marco. Apart from these seasoned names, it’s with great pleasure to have welcome newcomers including Huerco S, Ectomorph, Shanti Celeste, Syracuse and Levon Vincent onboard. Last but certainly not least; a couple of stone cold geniuses will be responsible for a track on the series as well. Amongst them are Can percussionist Burnt Friedman, Donato Dozzy, Tony Allen, The Egyptian Lover and Ricardo Villallobos. 

The second special EP comes from striking electronic artist Call Super—who returns after his 2016 EP on the label—and party starting house star Shanti Celeste who makes her debut after many great EPs on labels like Apron and Secretsundaze. Call Super offers ‘Fluenka Spoke’, a multi layered rack with shimmering synths and pads and glitchy beats down low. Shanti’s ‘Hinoki’ then shows off the producer’s more techno side with a tough and urgent banger that trippy sound design and soul infused chords all urging you to dance.

This is a live recording of my set from Solarplexia on November 16th, 2019 at the Brooklyn Bazaar -- our final party after four years of running the collective. We dealt with some serious sound issues in the middle of the night; as a result the booth monitoring was very off, apologies for some shakiness! Even so, we had an amazing sendoff with class sets by everyone who performed. This is very much a "goodbye set" by me, touching on many different genres and tracks that ginned up dance floor mayhem throughout our four years. Thank you to Stasia, Seth, Jordan, Kahaia, Joey, Katie and Casey for an amazing run. I love everyone who came out to a night.
