Unseren nächsten Gast und Freund vorzustellen, ist uns eine besondere Freude. In kurz, ist er so tief in der Berner elektronischen Gemeinde verwurzelt, wie nicht viele andere. Angefangen bei seinem Ex-Plattenladen Schwarzmarkt Musik, über seine zahlreichen Auftritte als Dj und Veranstalter bis hin zu seinen Aktivitäten als A&R beim Label Sirion Records, welches international mit ihren Releases Furore macht. Zu guter Letzt ist er nun auch ins Produzieren eingestiegen und darf schon nach kurzer Zeit, eigene, sehr coole Releases feiern. Diesmal hat Bird sich auf fremdes Terrain begeben (oder doch nicht?) und beschenkt uns mit einer Deepnes in seinem Mix, als würde er den ganzen Tag nichts anderes auflegen. Dies zeigt die Vielfältigkeit seines Schaffens und die scheinbare Leichtigkeit, wie er Musik hört und dann für uns aufbereitet. Aber hört doch einfach selbst rein.

Introducing our next guest and friend is a special pleasure. In short, he is as deeply established in the Bernese electronic community as not many others. Starting with his ex-record store Schwarzmarkt Music, over his numerous gigs as Dj and promoter to his activities as A&R at the label Sirion Records, which makes a lot of waves internationally with their releases. Last but not least, he has now also entered the field of production and is already celebrating his own very cool releases after only a short time.This time Bird has ventured into unfamiliar territory (or maybe not?) and gifts us with a deepness in his mix, as if he would DJ nothing else all day.  This shows the diversity of his work and the apparent ease with which he listens to music and then prepares it for us. But just listen for yourself.

Podcast 009 by Schlenker mit Turnbeutel!

Einst machte sich eine tapfere Ente auf den Weg, um die große weite Welt zu erobern. Stromschnellen wurden überwunden, karge Landschaften durchquert und auch ein kleiner Wasserfall wurde bezwungen. Viele Etappen wurden erreicht, neue Freundschaften geschlossen, doch die Reise ist längst noch nicht an ihrem Ende. 

Auf ihrem Weg, machte diese Ente auch halt bei uns, um uns etwas Besonderes, ganz sorgsam zu übergeben. 63 Minuten Musik behutsam aneinander gereiht, die für unendlich Glückseligkeit sorgen sollen, so verkündete sie uns, mit einer krakeligen Aufschrift „Jeden Tag ein Set Podcast 009“. 

Wir bedankten uns herzlich und so schnell konnten wir kaum schauen, schwamm die Ente schon weiter, um sich waghalsig ins nächste aufregende Abenteuer zu stürzen.

Kyodai means 'brothers' in Japanese, and that's exactly what these two DJ's are. A German duo that gained respect from musical heavyweights like Masters At Work, Jimpster, Gilles Peterson and Rainer Trüby. Regularly releasing under a variety of different names for labels such as Compost, Odori, Om and Lovemonk. Their “Breaking EP” was supported by top colleagues and reached the top list on Gilles Peterson's 'An All Winners Show'. Kerri Chandler liked it so much he decided to include it in his Resident Advisor podcast. Next to that, the Cielo Compilation on Nervous also picked up on Kyodai's EP, resulting in many requests for remixes and productions.

Wow, this was the second burn for me and first of all I would like to thank the Robot Heart family and Lee Burridge for giving me the chance to live one of the most intense and amazing experiences of my life. 

To be honest, ever since I got offered to play after the Lee’s well known mythical sunrise sets, my mind was all over the place. Going from happiness to anxiety to excitement, I trusted in the power of "The Playa" and went along with the feeling that everything was going to be fine. The result of this process was a 2 hour set of varied, emotional and fun music whilst the heat of the desert was banging at 10am.  

Being on the bus surrounded by my friends from Argentina, Panama, and New York, along with many others that I had the chance to meet is something that I will never forget. Again, thank you Lee, Robot Heart, Juli, Antos, Mati, Assaf, Zeyad, Jaxx, Sandra, Tengo and everyone for making this moment one of the happiest of my life.

I wish this will take you on a beautiful journey.

Mikele Dio is an established well known DJ in Vienna’s Club Scene and new artist, of Luv Lite Recordings.

And his stuff is original, indeed. As with almost all artists on Luv Lite, his background is diverse and multifaceted – the best supposition to create extraordinary and innovative music that is supposed to not only make your ass move but also enrichen your overall listening pleasure.

Being one of Vienna’s most popular DJs in terms of sophisticated house and regularly playing prestigious clubs like Volksgarten, Sass, Pratersauna, Auslage and more. Mikele now takes his artistic efforts to a new level with producing and releasing his own original music.

He started out DJing very early, being socialised with all kinds of club music in the versatile 90ies, during a phase when creativity seemed to burst from every corner of the clubmusic-galaxy. Mikele has been hooked on club culture ever since he was a kid. DJing and creating the perfect mix – finding the right selection, the optimal blend and the technical skills to drive the crowd wild and to sheer bliss became his goal almost instantly. Finally, after spending a lot of his teenage years pracitising, he got his first DJ-gig at the Club Nove Nove in todays Park Royal/City Club at the age of 18 – and it’s been a blast. His career as a DJ had been kickstarted and promoters across the country wanted to see the kid go for it on the decks. He landed a residency at the notorious Club Rotation (now Club Fusion), supported heroes of house like Spiller, played at the Love Parade several times and in short, his career took off. But as life happens, while you make other plans, Mikele accepted a job-offer from outside the music business in 2003 and had to quit DJing due to shere lack of time – but as with every other music-junkie, of course he came back.

In 2008 he announced his return and immediately got a residency at the Vienna City Beach Club, followed by a shere flowed of bookings from clubs and festivals such as Volksgarten, Pratersauna, Sass, Urban Art Forms Festival and many more. He also has supported a lot of international DJs in that time like Rodriguez Jr, Nico Pusch, Mihalis Safras, Felix Da Housecat, Andrea Galluzzi, Marc Romboy etc… His return received a more than hearty welcome from the Vienna clubscene…

Also Austria’s leading alternative radio station, Radio FM4 had featured his sets on various occassions, which is quite something as Vienna is obviously not in shortage of Club-DJs who would love to do just that!

His DJing had of course great influence in his productions – focussing on a very characteristic blend of Tech- & Deephouse in his music, Mikele creates an atmosphere which is immediately recognisable, due to his background in groove-based music. Like with all good clubmusic, Mikele adds layers and meta-layers to his music that lift everyone of his house-tracks to a new level of sophistication – in his case, it’s the groove and the melodies – but don’t worry, the sum of the parts is: Elegant and funky is the key!

„A Kind Of Light“ is his first release for the Luv Lite Imprint and it features the wonderful vocal skills of Aminata Seydi. A deep and very groovy excursion into deep techhouse with a soulful twist that should leave a mark on dancefloors across the globe! Solid, you may say and for sure a track that should stay long in record bags and on playlists for some time!
