With its message of resilience and emotional truth, “Forever Again” stands as a beacon for anyone who has lost a partner, whether due to separation or death. Maimone hopes the song offers solace, permission to heal, and courage to try again while still honoring the love that came before.

Forever Again

This is one of the songs I composed while living with my late husband Howard. He was known as the “Gay Guru” for his role as a publicist helping closeted celebrities come out under public scrutiny in the 1990s, 2000s and early 2010s. By improving visibility for our communities, he helped many LGBTQ+ people live their authentic lives.

Big Kiss is a tribute to being out and proud. Even now, as a proud gay man in 2025, there are still situations in which I hesitate to hold my partner's hand. While my straight friends and family don't think twice about being close to their partners, it still weighs on our subconscious whether we're keeping an acceptable distance. But I'm dedicated to making myself seen. With Howard, and now with my new companion - who is also a widower - I refuse to hold back, and I show my affection for him in public whenever I feel moved to do so!

Especially given policies by the current president, it is more important than ever for our communities to stand up and be seen. So I hope that Big Kiss will become an anthem for showing off our love loud and proud.

On My Way started as a voicemail for my long-distance love, Howard. He said I should turn it into a song, but I thought it was too cute. We were engaged and excited to move in together when Howard was diagnosed with cancer. We got married in his hospital bed, hoping to have a celebration with friends and family later. But he passed away the next night. Over the past two years I made an album in tribute to our love and the ways he continues to look after me. The original voicemail of this song was going to be an interlude, but I decided it was too pitchy and I re-recorded it. I started to like it more. So I added another verse and chorus. Then a bridge. Then I got my friends to sing the background parts. They said they loved the song. I started to love it, too. It felt like Howard kept nudging me, like, "this is good, keep going." I got my Nashville band to kick the ending up a notch. And when I played the whole album for my Patreon patrons, this by far stood out as the lead single. They said I had to introduce Howard's album to the world with this song. So here it is. From a voicemail to a lead single. Hope you enjoy it and that it becomes part of the soundtrack of your journey, your love, and your life.
