Pre-Globes Gambling Preview w/ David Long! - ORC 12/19/23

"Maestro" had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Lion. It is the second film to be directed by Academy Award-nominee Bradley Cooper following "A Star Is Born" and features him and Academy Award-nominee Carey Mulligan transforming into Leonard Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre. The two were kind enough to spend a little bit of time talking with me about their work on the film, and I also got the chance to speak with the film's Costume Designer, Academy Award-winner Mark Bridges. Dan Bayer also interviewed Academy Award-winning Supervising Sound Editor Richard King. All three interviews can be listened to below. A Behind The Scenes Look At "Maestro"

"Flamin' Hot" premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival, where it received positive reviews and was later released on Hulu and Disney+ over the summer. Academy Award-winner Diane Warren has been nominated at the Oscars 14 times in competitive categories. This year, she's shortlisted for writing the song for the film titled "The Fire Inside," performed by Becky G. Nominated already by the Society of Composers and Lyricists and Hollywood Music in Media, she could very well earn her 15th competitive nomination this year for the song which has over 2 million views on YouTube. Warren was kind enough to spend some time talking with us about her work on the song, which you can listen to below. "The Teachers' Lounge" premiered at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival, receiving critical acclaim for its direction, writing, and lead performance from Leonie Benesch. It went on to play many other film festivals throughout the year, ultimately receiving Germany's selection for Best International Feature Film at this year's Academy Awards. Director and co-writer İlker Çatak was kind enough to speak with us following the film's Oscar nomination for Best International Feature Film to discuss his experience making the film, what went into the film's screenplay, how the film's tension was influenced by "Uncut Gems" and more. Interview With "It's What's Inside" Director/Writer Greg Jardin

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Nadia Dalimonte, Josh Parham & Daniel Howat to review and discuss the latest film in the "Wallace & Gromit" franchise: "Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl" starring Ben Whitehead, Peter Kay, Lauren Patel & Reece Shearsmith. The News Of The Week segment must continue to be coronavirus related, but I do think this episode is able to look forward a bit more for a welcome change. Instead of having to dwell on all of the closings and the cases and the shutdowns, we can look forward to a few recent theatrical releases that’ll be put on VOD in what will hopefully become a regular practice, at least for the duration of this quarantine. So we debate all of the possible effects of NBC Universal upending the traditional release models & changing how we consume movies.

What new movies are we hoping become available over the upcoming months for home viewing? Is the Warner Brothers model a better way to do it? What will be left for movie theaters when we do get the chance to be social again? We speculate about it all through the opening of our Do You Care segment, where we preview all of releases coming out next week.

As for the rest of the episode, we do have some fun chatting about a few hopeful stories regarding how the show must go on at Wrestlemania, the announcements of Scream 5 & reboots of Frankenstein & Dracula, an honest to goodness Oscars 2021 story, plus some more awards talk after the Razzies picked their “winners,” and we also enjoy 3 big trailers for Disney’s Jungle Cruise, Pixar’s Soul, and Netflix’s Crip Camp.

After our introduction, there's no way to transition. But we do believe a show must go on here. It's our role. It's our job. As film journalists, as entertainers, as podcasters trying to offer talk radio for movie fans, we do believe that if our show can offer some respite, then we want to put it out there.

MMO Weekly is our weekly news & variety show designed to cover the news of Hollywood, and it’s usually a fast paced, fun time in terms of preparation, recording, & we hope, listening.
