Whether he is playing at intimate beach bars in Cape Town or festival dance floors, in the donned tie and slips slops, Mike Play has quickly established his name in the Cape Town electronic scene.

Mike focuses on infusing many elements of house music that can see his sets range from melodic deep grooves through to driving Tech House. Mike’s passion and understanding of the emotional elements of music was instilled in him as a young boy, through his musical family. 

It was the chance meeting of Italian DJ/Producer, Victor Massi in early 2007 that ignited Mike’s passion to play. With a sound introduction to vinyl, Mike learnt the art quickly applying his desire for the groove in jacking and Chicago house. In the summer of 2007 Mike landed his first residency at FTV Cape Town and had the pleasure of playing alongside New York’s house music champion, Nate Lawrence. 

4 years later after distinguished gigs at Cape Town’s top clubs including residencies at The Fez Club, The Bang Bang Club, The Dragon Room and Assembly to name a few, Mike earned Ministry of Sound association playing alongside global electronic legends, Chicane, Ray Foxx, Kissy Sell out and many more.

In the summer of 2012 Mike brought his South African passion and determination abroad, playing all over Thailand with a notable feature at Heineken DJ Festival at Levels Super Club in Bangkok, playing alongside electronic titan, Markus Schulz. 

Mike has spent the summers of 2012, 2013 and 2014 with a residency at one of Cape Town’s prestigious beach clubs, Shimmy Beach as well as hosting Friday nights at Camps Bay’s newest DJ bar, Le Roi. Mike got further into the groove making an appearance alongside House Music Hero, Felix Da Housecat at Seed Experiences’ We Are One Festival at the Grand Parade.
