For this third Mixtape dedicated to our website ‘Daft Punk Anthology‘, the DJ/producer ‘CrydaLuv’‘ which became known with his excellent rework of ‘End of line‘ (Tron Legacy), with his hilarious ‘Get Knacki‘ (Get Lucky edit) completely inevitable, and of course with his quality collaborations and remixes, has agreed to give us a big new mix. Indeed, the thought was by DaftSide (founder of DPA), the concept was to mix the best of all tracks from ‘side-project’ labels of the robots, Roulé‘ by Thomas Bangalter and Crydamoure by Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo and Eric Chédeville, such as a big VERSUS for this digital encyclopedia. 3H30 of disco and some slow jams, meant to do this since like forever, you know when you're listening to some disco song and the song is 8 minutes long and u feel like you don't want to have to listen to that part where a dude is doing a trumpet solo for 3mn all the time so you think damn i should just put all the best parts together and then it takes you over a month of work with no financial retribution

anyway, it's very long but trust me when i tell you that it doesn't even represent 1/4 of my disco folder, i mean i could have made an hour of this just with nigerian funk or an hour with brazilian boogie and yes it's mostly straight disco, nothing after 1984 (this will be for another mixtape)

also i didn't add one single drum, the songs are just edited and some in a savage way maybe

U DON'T NEED A TRACKLIST TO ENJOY THIS, and u also don't need to message me saying "hey i made a track sampling one of the song from your mix" UNLESS IT'S CERTIFIED BOMB BY A COLLEGE OF YOUR PEERS (your mom and your little brother don't count as a legit audience)

Welcome to another Daft Punk special mix of Funks containing tracks from Thomas Bangalter’s label Roulé Records (half of Daft Punk), Cassius, Phoenix and music from the French 'Touch' genre as well as original and remixed Daft Punk material.

The genre referred to as "French touch" also known as "filter house" and "tekfunk", will be the main focus in this mix.

The defining characteristics of the sound are heavy reliance on filter and phaser effects both on and alongside samples from late 1970s and early 1980s American or European disco tracks.

Expect house grooves, deep and funky basslines with filthy electro undertones.

you can call this the director's cut, 12 hours of music, about 17 mixtapes cut into pieces to save the best parts, from the first mixtape i've ever done I Can't Stop Bullets, 15 days after getting ableton in 2008 to The End of The World aka Judgement Day (everything after that, starting from the Ninjas Shark mixtape to Mostly Sandwiches last year is considered god tier, by me)

i made this long edit for my car, added a few things here and there easter egg type stuff, it took me years to find what i really liked so there are some stuff i didn't like to listen to anymore (including lot of my own stuff and also a bunch of cringe worthy transitions like that delay fx i would abuse, somebody should have stopped me) so i just went at it and sorry if i used your track and it disappeared in the process, we collectively made a lot of stuff around that time that just sound like crap now

the main thing about those mixtapes is sometimes i'd just play a song for like 20 seconds but it doesn't mean i liked it less, sometimes you don't want to buy the whole thing you just want to taste it (M. Scott)
