Besides being a tongue-in-cheek play on words for “sole dollar”, the song is mainly about being tired, played out, and over all done with everything and knowing you have to scrounge up that last bit of energy and throw caution to the wind. To quote Janis Joplin: “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose”.

It also ropes in a concept we have internally that was said to us by a very close friend. There are those times that no matter how much your getting paid for something, it’s going to cost you a little bit of your soul. He used to say to us “You might be making real dollars, but it’s going to cost you a lot of soul dollars.”
