[PREMIERE] NIKS - Rush Hour [PLOT RECORDS]

Adriatique’s new label Siamese returns with its second offering, the debut EP from electronic live duo Stereocalypse.

Title track ‘Lace Star’ is a subtle yet hypnotic record. Sterocalypse utilise the full duration of the track to add layers to an ever evolving soundscape, with a guitar, echoing synths and a subtle bassline coming together towards the track’s climax. 

It’s followed by the humorously titled ‘Not A B Side’, an atmospheric cut with a fusion of percussive and electronic elements giving it an exotic feel. The EP rounds off with ‘Shandy’s Eagle’; showing a little more of the duo’s experimental side, its trippy synth layers and soft bassline make for an ideal way to round off this eclectic EP. 

Stereocalypse aim to combine experience and instinct, analog feeling and modern textures in their boundary-free work. A completely new project from two experienced producers, the ‘Lace Star’ EP is a statement of intent from the duo.

So much has been associated with the name of Malchishnik in the Soviet Union last days. Legendary hip-hop project and leader of Russian youth subculture in the beginning of 90's. Track called Tancy (means Dancing) has always been special for me and I was very happy that the part of this song was sampled for Symbol's Kozhemyaka track. This pushed us to make a real rocking beats edit for the dancefloors a quarter of the century later after original was released. And we did it!

Although previously known for his work in the world of jungle and drum & bass, recently Moscow based producer Marco Lazovic has proven himself to be a formidable talent in the world of electro and house through stand out releases on Lobster Theremin’s “White” series and GASP Records. Lazovic’s work is unified by an uncanny grasp of tone; skillfully jumping from genre to genre with a confidence fueled by his passionate and deep knowledge of the sonic touch points of dance music history.
 
Lazovic’s latest release Ocean Voyage continues the artists gleeful genre plundering with a six-track sea cruise into the aquatic world of electro out this month on cassette via Prague’s Beef Records. Bolting Bits is thrilled to premiere. the record’s A1 and title track “Ocean Voyage.” Eschewing the darker tones of the genre in favor of twinkling lightness, “Ocean Voyage” plays like a seductive electro descent to Bikini Bottom.
 
Making expert utilization of the distinctly jack sensibility of the traditional electro sound palate, the rhythmic pull of “Ocean Voyage” is undeniable. Off setting the clear Drexicyian influence, Lazovic’s tune replaces gurgling bubbles with shimmering 64 bit waves crashing with gentle grace.

The owner of the highly successful Highway Records imprint, a label which has spanned over 15 years with over 180 releases, featuring artists such as Gui Boratto, Hernan Cattaneo, Adriatique, Alex Niggemann, Mihai Popoviciu, Sahar Z and many others. As well as Russian producers Dave Pad, Fake Mood, SCSI-9, Gorje Hewek, Izhevski, Come Closer, Amonita, Agraba, Thierry Tomas. The success and longevity of the label owes much to Mike Spirits obsession for music, with his label showcasing at Moscow's biggest clubs as well different venue's across the globe. Regular guest slots at the biggest events and clubs in Moscow, like Blanc, Gazgolder, Propaganda, Radio at Supermetal, Chateau de Fantomas have further strengthed his appeal 

An accomplished producer in his own right, Mike has a proud selection of quality and diverse underground releases under his own belt across many great labels including his own Highway records.

At the turn of this decade Mike Spirit was tasked as “Cultural Minister” for Kazantip republic and Epizode festival. He was also made the head of art-management on Sochi's Winter Music Conference and In 2015 he was at the helm of art-management of Alfa Future People festival.

At the heart of Mike Spirit's wide-ranging and expansive understanding of all things underground is a fundamental belief: he neither believe in following trends nor the concept of guilty pleasures. His commitment encapsulates what can make dance culture so life-changing and enthralling: it’s about the clubber on the dance floor reacting to the music.
