Introducing Snad, also known as Spandrel, a prominent figure in the circles frequented around Club der Visionaere on warm summer afternoons. Splitting his time between Berlin and Philadelphia, Snad has etched his name in the scene, boasting 12-inch releases on European labels like Phonica, 20/20 Vision Minibar and Pleasure Zone. Despite his European ventures, he stays true to his roots, showcasing his US influence with records on Chez Damier’s Courtesy Of Balance Recordings.

Considered a rising star in the forecasted full on mnml revival, his sonic creations reflects the delicate weave of experiences gathered from his time in Chicago, Goa, and Berlin. Beyond geographical boundaries, Snad’s evolving ties to the Indian Underground position him as a significant player within enlightened circles. These circles, still traversing the Silk Roads, take their underground culture seriously, irrespective of their global location. Keep an ear out for Snad’s continual musical journey.

Up next, we have Danielle Arielli who has been carefully studying the art and craft of dance music for over a decade. The producer, DJ and label owner of Tooflez Muzik delves into a sound that resounds without pretence, opening up new yet familiar sonic spaces while creating a communal drive. Drawing from the deep well of inspiration found in the Black music cultures of Detroit and Chicago.  Such examples can also be found on Jus Ed's Underground Quality Label, the revered Plastic People imprint and Berlin's homegrown Raiders Records.  Danielle's sonic explorations are infused with reverence for the past while pushing into the future.

Ralph Rodriguez Jr., also known as Ralph Session, hails from New York City but currently resides in Barcelona. As an International DJ and Producer, he has honed his skills in creating unique musical atmospheres through his productions and DJ sets. Introduced to the House Music scene of NYC in 2003, Ralph immersed himself in the city's club culture through the Bboy and House Dance movement, learning on iconic dance floors like Shelter, Cielo, Sin Sin, and Sullivan Room. With his own label, Half-Assed Records, and releases on esteemed platforms such as Local Talk, SOLE Channel and Nervous. Ralph has built a catalog that captures the essence of both New York City and Chicago's sound. His passion for House music shines through in his cross-continental portrayals of dance floor vibes, both in his music and DJ performances, earning recognition worldwide. Keep an eye out for his upcoming DJ gigs across Europe and the US as he continues to share his love for the House Sound of NYC.

Sherø, originally from Antwerp and now based in Berlin, channels the nostalgic essence of 90s house, rave, jackin', breakbeats, acid, Detroit and Chicago house, and new beat through a sensual, energetic, and melancholic soulful twist. After more than 30 years of spinning and producing under pseudonyms Stephanie, D’Stephanie, and later D’Steph, with releases on renowned labels such as Sonar Kollektiv, Chez, Jalapeno, and others, she is also the founder of the queer record label KlubKid Records and held a six-year residency at Brenn(Berlin) until September 2023. As one of Berlin's quintessential DJs, she regularly performs at renowned venues like Berghain/Panorama Bar, Gegen, Horse Meat Disco, Renate, Else, Tresor, Watergate, Homodrop, Aeden, Æve, Fitzroy, Kake, Cocktail d’Amore, Fiese Remise, RSO, Golosa, and Sweat. Sherø has also graced the stages of festivals such as Garbicz, Whole, Pukkelpop, 10 Days Off, From Disco to Disco, Full Circle, and Queerport.

In her music productions, Sherø aims to captivate the mind, body, and soul with deep dives into old skool house, rave, new beat, and breakbeat, all set against a sexy and funky backdrop.

We are happy to introduce Michael Ellis for our next SYLPCAST and welcome one of Freiburgs finest selectors to the series:

Michael Ellis started out spinning records at small, self-organised functions in the forests surrounding his hometown, Freiburg. Ellis’ DJ-sets are always enriched with surprising finds from record stores from near and far, always in line with his love for House and Disco tracks that are both uplifting and spiritual, percussive and pumping, mostly vocal and always slamming. His House-Music-only series Ready or Not and its newest offsprings, the Sunday House Dance Jams and Roller Discos, are fostering the connection between Dance- and Club-Culture in the area. In 2023 he joined forces with Klingberg, co-founder of the label Reach Another Systems. Together, they penned the idea for their love child called Brighter Days.

Three years ago, we called Suzi Ecto “an expansive piece of art” in which Call Super created a “sonic world inspired and shaped by … club music”. Since his debut album, he’s released half a dozen 12”s, also going by Ondo Fudd and Elmo Crumb as well as sharing one record with Shanti Celeste and collaborating on another with Beatrice Dillon. And then there’s the small matter of his Fabric CD, which raced between music from friends and contemporaries, long-standing influences and his own productions. Earlier this month he released Suzi Ecto’s follow-up, Arpo, on Houndstooth – a record that feels more insular than its predecessor, yet comfortably so. Once again Call Super trades in beautifully rendered scenes embellished by the virtuoso clarinet of his father, David Seaton. Ideas are teased before they return fully expanded, a “journey” of a record that folds back in on itself. If we were the types to make lists you can be sure it’d be near the top for this year.

Having started the year with the aforementioned Fabric mix, he’s finishing 2017 with the latest entry to our series of Truancy Volumes. An 85-minute mix, it covers extensive ground. Not only does it run through strands of house and techno like your mind runs through rooms in a dream, it features Call Super at his most playful, exercising fast cuts, volume chops and breathtaking acapella transitions. You can tell that he’s enjoying every minute.

A selectress with no inhibitions digging & choosing parts that build to adventurous, energetic, seductive, & rapturous sets spanning many genres: Dee Diggs is a DJ and writer based in Brooklyn, NY.  She is unapologetically black, queer, and a life long student of the tenets of House Music.

Her energetic, yet deep approach to DJing has seen this Boston to Brooklyn transplant lighting up dance floors all over; in particular, garnering attention in the queer party scene. The year 2020 found her at the top of her game after a debut European tour during August 2019 and gearing up for another tour in April 2020 before the COVID-19 shutdowns took the world spinning in a different direction. Now, she can be found making DJ mixes that range from easy listening for those quarantined at home to high energy nostalgia for those who miss the clubs. 

Notes on the Mix ///
"I wanted to do an interesting split in this mix: 50% what I consider easy-listening and then ramp up into 50% songs I would play more around others or in a DJ set. Practicing that progression can be one of the most nuanced parts of live DJing or mix making. It is a pleasure to combine 2 moods and have them bridge seamlessly. I think of it as the dissonance between what I was listening to at home or in the car before the gig and what I will press play on when I arrive inside the booth at set time."
