Loving relationships are a big part of what makes life worth living. However, it is often said that there’s a “thin line between love & hate”. Many intimate relationships shift from tender feelings and warm regard to bitterness and resentment when fate tears two hearts asunder that were once intertwined. In an age full of anthems about taking vindictive pleasure in “stunting” on ex-partners, and operating from a place of spite when relationships end, King MAS presents a different narrative wherein loving-kindness endures even after an intimate bond has become a distant memory.
 
“Happy Now”, featured on the recently released “All in All” riddim, is a mature and nuanced approach to reflecting on a lost love connection. While noting that the relationship was less than perfect, King MAS expresses goodwill and wishes happiness, blessings, and true love upon his erstwhile beloved. The rhythm track, produced all the way in east Africa, is the brainchild of Nixon Kiiru Ndegwa of Mega Records (Nairobi, Kenya). It features a drum section crafted by accomplished Reggae drummer/percussionist Josi “Big Finga” Coppola who is based in Germany and known for his veteran role in the “Evolution” band as well as his involvement in numerous Reggae productions over the years including the recent “Onward” riddim as well as the classic “Honey Pot” riddim compilation in collaboration with Silly Walks discotheque.

As the “musical Obeah man”, King MAS operates based on a philosophy of sound vibration as a method of healing psycho-spiritual wounds. Just as traditional healers and “science” men embrace nature and all of it’s elements, the lyrics from the King promote making peace with the struggles of the past while remaining optimistic about the possibility for greater joy in the future for all.
