"This mix feels deeply sentimental to me.  I’ve mainly selected South Asian influenced Drum N Bass tracks, edits and compositions that play off that sweet spot between melody and heavy drums. There’s a lot of music from my childhood, and music I admired from afar as a fan of the British Asian underground, and tracks from contemporary producers that feel like a perfect blend. Honestly, I started djing to try and communicate this very clear relationship the music of my Indian childhood and heritage had to my contemporary love for the club and drum heavy music in my brain and body, and while I’ve had the chance to explore that before in live sets, or in mixes such as my mix for the Bleus series, this feels like the best reflection of that special part of my brain and heart. I shared the mix with my friend and collaborator Izzi and we both listened to it (in separate cars) as we drove to meet each other at the beach, in Waddawarrung country, and it felt like the perfect soundtrack to that? I’ve separated the mix into two with an interlude so the first part I think travel somewhere, and the for the last bit dance cos you’ve arrived at your destination. "

Hue & Saturation Mix 045: Kāmna

‘For home use only’ is an anti-club social, a chance to get to know someone/something. A series of transmissions purely dedicated to exploring the other side.

Here we are, still breathing, doing what we can in whatever way we can, still breathing, life is good, hard, but good. Enjoy it by all means possible. 
I do have something that might help though, as it's helped me, and it is this beautiful mix from Naarm based Kāmna. 

Kāmna is most definitely someone to pay attention to. Her breadth of knowledge and understanding of all things noise is truly unique, and if this mix doesn’t convince you of that, then go back and listen to her ‘Bleus’ and ‘Hue & Saturation’ mixes. Her ability to piece together the unknown has rewarded her with more and more gigs around town and I feel that this is only the beginning. 

Strap yourselves in for 109 minutes of pure elation, completely captivating from the get go, completely gripped until you’re let go. A mix of fun and flirtatious movements and ideals with bits and bobs of pretty much everything under the sun. A contemporary and refreshing approach to the lost art of the mix tape, it’s so easy to tell how much each one of these songs means to her. Submerged in a rich cultural understanding of how the world works, the mix blends multiple narratives together to create a harmonious tapestry that is just so damn nice on the ears. A mix that will happily haunt you for the rest of your life.

Her words >>>> “My favourite and most luxurious thing to do at home is to lie on the grass in my backyard on a somewhat sunny day under the dispersed shade of a too tall fruiting olive tree until I get slightly chilly and then I get up and lie on the concrete under a sheet or some tees hung up on our hills hoist spinning around with the light breeze we sometimes get in the late afternoon. White cabbage moths float through our veggie patch, tiny ants crawl over my legs and I smell the wafts of meals my neighbours are cooking, or maybe heating up.  Don't Matter is an electronic club album featuring five original tracks, each paired with a chapter in the accompanying print zine of the same name. Every chapter corresponds to a track, accessible via QR codes linked to a streaming platform. 

Through a fusion of music, poetry, visual art and interview, the zine explores metaphysical and sociopolitical dimensions of ‘nothingness’. Don't Matter interrogates the biases embedded in language and perception, including colonial constructs like Terra Nullius to scientific descriptions of cosmic voids.
