NICARAGUA CÓSMICA surveys a cross-section of Nicaraguan music via a frequency we might consider cosmic, saturnian, creating, through the use of distortion, synthesizers and multiplex arrangements, a new approach that its protagonists believed had the capacity to unite Central America in paz y libertad, including groups such as PODER DEL ALMA, LOS SOLISTAS DEL TERRAZA, BLUE ANGELS and GRUPO CAWIBE.

Opening with celebratory Bedouin wedding field recording, Atif and Qasim Swaitat, 1970, set inside a dreamscape framed by Masumi Hara’s ‘To Live In The Sea’.. That song, from 1984, starts with the line ‘’When I returned home you were dead’.

Later: reaching forwards, uneasy, but resistant. 90s UK, urban tropical, 909 state + new digs on a chugging tilt.

Sibson x Radio Alhara [Feb 24]

Copenhagen’s Echocord label returns this September with the release of the ‘Invincible Nature’ EP by Altone, featuring remixes from Thomas Fehlmann and Another Channel. Altone, the alias of Tokyo-based Yuki Takasaki, is a prominent figure in the Japanese dub techno scene, having released music on labels such as Greyscale, Lempuyang, Vuo and Æ Recordings. His unique take on dub techno has garnered international recognition within the underground scene. Now, he joins the esteemed Echocord label, a significant force in dub techno for over two decades, led by Kenneth Christiansen.

Today’s premiere features a laid-back, dub-infused remix by the legendary Swiss producer and composer Thomas Fehlmann, known for his work with The Orb and releases on labels like Kompakt, R&S, Tresor and Apollo to name a few. The remix is characterized by rich sub-bass, glitchy synth modulations that keep morphing throughout the track, and soft dub stabs that add a distinctive touch.
The track premieres today on Delayed, with the official release scheduled for September 6th.

Circadian Rhythms - Systematic Soul [Basic Moves]

BAUR is Jakarta-based music producer Aditya Permana. 
The band is defined through its raw, primitive sound, heavily inspired by the home tape recording culture of the late 1980s.

BAUR's music frequently contains fragments of TV and radio news, containing a collage of social and political commentary that leans toward a satirical and cynical context. Reflecting upon the chaotic and polluted environment of Jakarta, BAUR’s long play format often narrates a reality that is gritty and apocalyptic but also containing melancholy and hope.

On Saturday 2nd March 2024, Aditya Permana debuts music project BAUR
along with experimental film maker Aditya Martodiharjo, to a small group of
enthusiasts at Studio 22nya, an intimate space showcasing 
independent artists.

The hour long performance expands on a range of unpublished materials,
moving through ambient sonic textures to more distorted, expansive sounds.

From e.g. dub, Italo disco, New German Wave, soul, house, jazz, baile funk to film soundtracks - she draws on a variety of genres from all over the world.

For Kiosk Radio, Mila Elois gives a 1h insight into her musical roots and her relationship with global underground cinema. She will play her all time favorite O.S.T. gems from films that she grew up with.
