Mikimau Music Presents from Brazil
Antonela Giampietro, music is organic. It is something that lives and breathes, whispering from every corner of the globe. As an artist, she has sought to express this depth and freedom in her work.
From Argentina to Brazil, her sets have caught the ears of talent seekers and music lovers all over South America. Balancing DJ duties as resident of Club Vibe, alongside the production of her first full-length album, Antonela has dedicated her life to exploring music andemotion, while pulling it off with a wicked sense of style.
Born in Buenos Aires, the young siren began her song almost 10 years ago, refining her skills first as a DJ and now an experienced producer, with releases on Frequenza Limited and King Street Sounds.
Influenced by Coltrane’s jazz and mentored by the pioneers of her day, she began studying piano and composition. As with many true artists, her hard work reflected both an innate skill and passion. “Music is not a moment in my life,” she says, “it is a way of living.” It is this tenacious attitude that has landed her gigs at venues like Pacha and Bahrein, where she recently headlined, in addition to playing alongside world class acts like Soul Clap and Felix Da Housecat.
Her collaborative spirit is a key element in her success, and her work with Brazilian artist Aninha is a testament to that. Known together as Side_A, their productions bring a complementary mix of full-on house vibes with something altogether more introspective, minimal and underground. Their releases have received support from Luciano, Dubfire, Slam and more, and their forth coming album is hotly tipped, a depth charge of emotion, beats, and raw energy.
In today’s world of DJ stardom, one sometimes has to question an artist’s motivations. Are they seeking fame? Fortune? Fans? With Antonela the answer is clear – only the music is important, and the way it connects to the people. An ambassador of South America’s dance scene, she stands out for her seasoned tastes, as she traverses genres and moods with ease and a unique grace. A constant seeker, she scours the world for only the most powerful musical morsels, which she delivers to her audiences time and time again.
