Cosmic

In the absence of light, sound becomes a primary guide for sensing and understanding space. Moving through the nocturnal tapestry of people, infrastructures, and natural worlds in dialogue at the three sites in Tamale (Old Airport, Waterworks and Dakpema Palace), this research explores the perceptible essentiality of these places through soundscapes. I call this process soundography: a way of listening that is as much about feeling presence as it is about documenting, for a more attentive engagement with space ecologies. In exploring night as more than a void, it’s an attempt to engage with the underlight, where urban life reveals itself in rhythm, resonance, relationality.

I'm Mikael Thorne. I'm a sound artist and musician specializing in soundscapes and experimental music. My work is about creating immersive, atmospheric environments and using sound to evoke both abstract and deeply emotional experiences. I explore minimalism, work with field recordings, and electronic manipulation to create compositions that invite listeners into unique sound worlds—often filled with introspection, wonder, and surrealism.

With my music, I aim to push the boundaries of traditional sound, using it as a tool to challenge our perceptions and evoke diverse emotions that transcend words. I want my music to be something you not only hear but also feel—an aural exploration that inspires you to experience sound in a new way.

All compositions are created without the aid of artificial intelligence and are subject to a completely human and personal creative process. However, the images on the Somg covers are partly created by artificial intelligence.
