Budding youngblood Will Lister has been catching eyes and pricking up ears within London's close knit music community since moving up from Dorset. Having worked behind Phonica's shop counter and spinning records on his Balamii radio show, now marks the time for the savvy 19-year-old to make his production debut on Phonica's main imprint.

The Phantom exhibits three tracks of insatiable new-age dance music that's full of twists and turns along the way. Our EP highlight "After the Light" kicks straight into place from the off. Rich piano stabs set the tone, with a full-bodied rhythm driving throughout. An unavoidable groove persists throughout, complementing the EP's surrounding tracks neatly. Jayson Wynters is a serious disc jockey, this much is true after watching him expertly blend an assortment of genre and style at Houghton festival several weeks ago. Turns out he's also a bit of a genius in the studio.

"I made that track in a phase in which I was quite isolated and almost entirely focusing on making music. The name comes from video game character Raiden (Metal Gear Solid). He always had this alienated/outcast vibe which is something I think a lot of Artists can relate to. There is a lot of fear and unresolved emotions in him of which’s origin he doesn’t even really know until details of his past are revealed later on. 

So what the track actually means to me is that I had a lot of fear to face shit inside myself which inevitably came to the surface in those states of isolation and deprivation. All of that was triggered by some really challenging psychedelic experiences which left me being quite detached from reality and having panic attacks for months subsequently. But contrary to my beliefs at that time i found that there is a lot of peace and a sense of spaciousness to be found in those areas of oneself as soon as one manages to surrender. I guess what the track gave me was some relief when I really needed it."

For this premiere we look again to Germany for a new release from Heliopause.

Originally consisting of @AUX88 and Dynamik Bass System, Heliopause has moved from a trio to become a solo project consisting of just Thomas Werner, who is the man behind DBS and Robotmachine Records.

The track selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere is the final track on the album entitled 'Quantum Mechanics'. This track (and all the tracks on this new album) are exactly what you expect from the man behind Dynamik Bass System. Up-beat 808 rhythms, excellent mastering, modestly used vocoding, funk-laced bass lines and well-thought out arrangements that keep the listener engaged.
