Melancholy found itself to me through a shared link by a friend ... mixed in my accordion bit just for the fun of it, since playing the Cello is still works-in-progress.

Since the 80s, the closest Mik ever got to a synthesizer, was standing inches away from demo units at local music stores, he could only marvel, as owning one was near impossible. He still recalls the heavenly smell of the plastic keys - a stolen whiff when no one was looking (hopefully it wasn't the scent of sweat from the demonstrator's fingers).

From stacks of brochures, catalogues and magazines, to watching countless hours of MTVs... time became a patient friend. 

Through the decades that followed, this nurturing friend taught him to play the ivory keys. From single notes on one hand, the left finally joined in the fray, with some encouragement and coaching.

Picking up and adopting any keyboard from owners who lost interest and had given them up, Mik managed to set up his tier of Casiotones & Yamaha Portasounds. He hooked them up to a boom box and it was then that the noise began. It was a joke, it was all that was available then, only years later, did this journey manage to finally take its first step, with the arrival of the Ensoniq EPS http://tinyurl.com/7r2aylt & floppies of sounds that came with it.

Moving forward, the whole scene has changed so drastically; from synths to software, controllers and launch pads; acoustic pianos to iRig Keys and an iPad at Starbucks… the inner child that is Mik, is now lost in this current mosaic of possibilities
