so i made this tune during the CJSW big friday sunrise sessions hosted by Myke Atkinson. the show runs 7-10 on friday morning every week. the idea was to write a tune while the show was going on and play it before it finished. i had a reaaaaaally rad experience creating this tune. i sampled a youtube video about the oriental flute by Erik The Flutemakern. the show is filled with loads of canadian music. check it out at the link below

As far as innovative producers go, there aren’t many who can hold a candle to ATL’s own Shanti. Known for his
uniquely twisted take on bass heavy 140 music, Shanti has been making literal waves around the world, collecting
features on heavyweight labels such as Brunswick Sound and most recently Southpoint.

His latest EP, released via Elliptic Audio Research is truly groundbreaking stuff, focussing heavily on raw, crunchy
sound design and a collection of emotionally provoking synth sounds. The overall cohesion within the EP’s track
listing is phenomenal, bringing the phrase ‘Amphibious’ to life with such vivid colours and rhythmic progression,
similar to that of the ocean itself.

The first track ‘Portals Of Light‘ is an experience that sets off the whole project perfectly. Luscious layers of audible
aquatics sit balanced perfectly beneath sweeping synthesis alongside a beautiful key and vocal introduction. 

The progression is flawless as we move into ‘Reality Of Sonar’, which is built of a similar structure, with a twist. We’re now
below the waves rather than in the pools at the shoreline. This is where unpredictable rhythmic elements come into
play with skippy drum patterns switching at will between half-time and four by four.

The progression continues subtly into the most upbeat section of the EP entitled ‘Sensualist’. Here we start to hear
more typical Shanti styles come into play with some incredible organ work and dubbed out vocal arrangement. The
second half of the track suddenly strikes with more choppy rapid styles of drum pattern and bass sound design that
can’t help but feel Shanti has been waiting to unleash. 

Finally we start to ascend to the surface again with the
stunning arrangement of ‘Poseidon's Cove’. There isn’t much more to say than what a fantastic way to finish an
incredible musical journey. 

Shanti has certainly outdone himself with this one.

This one is exceptional, after two years of production process tailored for ISR, The french producer Dubmentalist has created a Dubstep album packed full of real instruments, original and self recorded samples. Without a doubt, “Planetoid“ is a high quality album for all Dubstep fans. 
Every bit of this project was conceptualized, written and put into action in a controlled manner. There are a few key elements to take in consideration while listening to this album in order to understand Dubmentalist’s overall musical vision. 

First and foremost, the continuous intriguing and catching melodies, most of the time covered by a distinct future sound which in some way rings indifferent to a native instrument. These patterns sustains the progression of the album and undeniably defines the style of Dubmentalist. Whilst invariably floating in a neutral environment, darkness always takes over which unfailingly captures the listener’s attention. 

Although he maintains a human/acoustic touch to his production, it’s in a grandiose behavior that Dubmentalist drives us into his perception of deep space exploration. A big melting pot of melodies, tribal percussions, deep bass, strong mid reeces, well organised and constantly reaching the end goal. It’s with care and attention to details that we can grasp onto this journey.

We are proud to add this to our growing discography, representing this as one of the stand out LP's we have put out to date. From the serious stomping vibes of “Murdera“ to the halftime chill sounds of “Shadows“ over to the conga grooves of “crossroads“ as well as the spacey melodies in “Recycled“ this one just shows the love and passion for the genre by Dubmentalist. Teaming up with the ISR Generals L NIX, Flashball13, 1137 and Split for the remixes that definitely spices up the project.

From December 14 - January 31, 12 Bass Coast alumni are providing original tracks for download by donation. Bass Coast will match all donations made and all proceeds will be donated to The Conayt Friendship Center in Merritt, British Columbia on the shared traditional territories of the Nłeʔkepmx and Sylix.

Raising $2,500 will allow The Conayt Friendship Center to send five youth and a chaperone to Gathering Our Voices, a two day conference that brings indigenous youth from across Canada together to learn, explore and engage with culture.

Over the past few years The Conayt Friendship Center has not had the funds to send Merritt youth to the conference. The community in Merritt has welcomed Bass Coast to the area for the past 8 years. By donating and downloading tracks, you are making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of local youth at a vital time.
