In Act 1, there is a nightmare sequence that occurs in the Financial World, “where every boy and every girl/aspires after dimes and pearls”.

The main character is "D", a poet and a recent university graduate. She lives in the Real World where everything seems to be going wrong – from the ecosystem to the economy.

In Act 1, there is a nightmare sequence that occurs in the Financial World, “where every boy and every girl/aspires after dimes and pearls”. D is taunted and teased because she is a poet – impractical, a nuisance and (horror of horrors!) a dreamer. No words are minced in letting her know that she is an outsider, an alien, and that she will never belong in the Financial World.
