Welcome along. Christmas cracker incoming! The Atmospheric Existence radio show on 1BTN Radio was conceived to run alongside the record label Atmospheric Existence Recordings (AER) and has been a monthly home for us to create live audio documents that can be revisited and enjoyed time and again. 

So far we've been flying solo each month, but with over a years worth of shows, it's time to broaden the audio spectrum!
We will be inviting guests each month alongside your host, who we admire and respect, whose contribution, sound & skillsets for us, showcase the very best in modern contemporary electronic music.

Here's the upload of the last AER radio show on 1BTN Radio on Tue 19th December, 18:00-20:00hrs (GMT). This festive edition featured a special guest, no other than that House man Jimmy Clanfield.

Jimmy Clanfield comes from the outskirts of Portsmouth on the UK South Coast, lived in London from the millennium and has now settled south of Bristol. His musical background is in studio based production, recording and mixing, live sound and DJing. He also teaches music and digital arts and has set up a range of community studios over the last 20 years in youth centres around London and has built a home studio after many years of acquiring equipment where he works on his own projects with singers and other musicians. James has a long-standing love for house music and has releases and remixes out on Merecumbe Recordings, Soulful Horizons Music, Wallshaker Music, Blu Lace Music, Sneja Recordings, For Those That Knoe, Sprungcartellwachs and Dogmatik Records, additionally his mix engineering has featured on releases for Rebirth and Defected. He co-hosted The Descendance Mixshow with Alison Marks for DHP Radio and is half of Mixed Message Music with DaMs for Drums Radio.

Domenic has been an avid supporter of releases on AER & my other releases since the beginning. I'm pleased to have him contribute to the series and his mastery as a DJ & selector is unparalleled. New debut album from him dropping later this month on Alien Communications called 'Basement Philosophy" to add to his back catalogue of releases.

Domenic Cappello has maintained his weekly Saturday Subculture residency, the flagship night at Glasgow’s Sub Club, since 1994. Subculture has thrived where so many house clubs have flagged because the night has always embraced and sought out the most innovative and culturally relevant electronic music - regardless of fickle fashions or commercial pressures.

Atmospheric Existence with Miles Atmospheric & Special Guest Domenic Cappello

Here's the upload of the February edition of the Atmospheric Existence show on 1BTN.FM, broadcast on Tue 20th Feb. This months special guest who joined me was sonic purveyor Alison Marks.

DJ, producer and vocalist Alison Marks has been enjoying losing herself in music for longer than it’s probably polite to say. She has played at some great parties over the years. To name but a few, Plastic People, Ministry Of Sound, The Cross, 50 Arc, Nightmoves, Freerotation, Turnmills, Propaganda (Moscow), Twilo (New York), Amnesia (Ibiza), Pacha (Ibiza), Moog (Barcelona), Le Club (Valencia), Paradise Garage (Portugal), Radost FX (Prague), Tropical House (L.A) and many more lesser known but just as gratifying places from Mexico to Siberia. 

Festival wise she has played at Extrema (Holland), I Love Techno (Belgium), Mysteryland (Holland), Koneisto Festival (Finland), Exit Festival, while holding down residencies in Bogota - Columbia, Amsterdam and Moscow.

She has released music as ‘Alison Marks’, ‘Lumina’ with Helen Copnall (50 Arc / Atmospheric Existence Recordings) and ’Wallflower’ with Leah Floyeurs. More recent projects include ‘Descendance’ with Jimmy Clanfield and ‘Akulina’. 

Exhibiting releases on labels such as Dessous, Dogmatik, Rebirth, Defected and Verdant, Alison continues to deliver her own take on electronic music, with a depth of musical wisdom based on a wealth of experience garnered over many years of dedication.
Her music has been remixed by the likes of Larry Heard, Aubrey, Deetron, Anya Schneider, Dubbyman, Gerd Janson, Rampa, Nandu,  Asadino and Jenifa Mayanja.

We welcomed a long time veteran of the scene to the show, who joined me for a 2hr guest mix. Scott Braithwaite. 

Having been involved since day one, from remixing soundscape in the early 90’s.
To projects with Techno luminary Craig Walsh, moving to A&R, the architect behind many projects of yesteryear which paved a path for the deeper side of House & Techno, to critical acclaim.
Working for Kickin Records, home of Slip N Slide, Warlock, being the original A&R at Kickin records left, leaving Scott to compile many compilations from producers in the 90’s, including the ‘Elements of Jazz’ series, featuring 3MB feat:Juan Atkins, Dave Angel, Glen Underground, Dan Curtin, K Alexi, Patrick Pulsinger, Black Jazz Chronicles (Ashley Beadle), Model 500, Ian O’Brien, As One (Kirk Degiorgio).
Also, the Techno Nations Vol 6 & 7, featuring Monolake, James Ruskin, Surgeon, Kosmic Messenger, The Advent, Jay Denham, Space DJs, Joey Beltram, Drexciya, Planetary Assault Systems, then ‘The Freestyle Fusion’ compilation for Dynamite Joint recordings, featuring artists Stasis, Bandulu, Afronaught, The Cinematic Orchestra.
He has played all over the world and continues to this day.

Despite or maybe because of this, Matt Pond is one of those guys who has picked substance over style: modest and demure in his demeanour, you only have to scratch the surface to realise he’s a seasoned professional who’s been in the business for decades. He’s a humble individual who sees past the glittery awards and their accompanying hubris and has stayed loyal to his loyal stalwarts of underground culture.

Matt created Deepsystems, a party, a radio show and a moniker, which has beamed out endless heartfelt sounds worldwide for many a year, weaving his own story that emits emotion, groove, funk and pure future soul. If you've not heard Matt's music before, i can only say that here is an individual
who will not settle for anything but the very best.
A DJ at the top of his game, with a unique deep style, that favours musicality and substance and in my eyes up there as one of the very best in the world, hands down.

Scuol Palace, tucked away in the Eastern Mountains of Switzerland, hosted the 1st Multiplay Festival, a beautiful foray into the wilderness, curated with love and attention. I was honoured to be invited to close the outdoor stage on Saturday night. A big bag of vinyl and some choice digital personal cuts and unreleased material as well as numbers from my circle.. 
Open the bag, do not prepare, exist in the moment and enjoy the ride, it’s where moments meld and the joy happens, the unexpected. Energy levels were high, the recording is no frills and raw!

He's produced music alongside Craig Walsh as The Cause, with tracks released on various respected labels. Beyond production, he curated several acclaimed seminal compilations, including Techno Nations, Deep States, and Elements of Jazz.

As a DJ, he's played globally—from Brazil and Uruguay to Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Ibiza.

Here is the recording of my set for FREEROTATION FESTIVAL this year.
I Played on the sunday evening, after a long, hot, beautiful weekend at Baskerville Hall!
The set was performed after Sam Watson and before Neel...
It was a hot, heady room, so a total throwdown, just go with what you feel selection. Spontaneity! The energy in the room was amazing.

The set was recorded by my close friend Alex Downey and crowd room noise inclusion edit by Charlie Tear (50 Arc). What a joy to have a mic recording simultaneously to get that feeling of being back and to give those not there a feel of the energy there!

Recorded on 2 x technics 1210's, Allen & Heath mixer, Tascam field recorder, CDJ's.
