Milio is back on Atomnation with his third full-length Invisible Lands in September 2024. It is the glorious result of an artistic journey in which the Dutchman has discovered new production skills and techniques. With this album, he shares his ultimate safe space, which you can come to understand while listening to it. Recorded with love, a variety of synthesizers, and experimentation using his voice.

Invisible Lands comes with original artwork drawn by Koen Taselaar. Taselaar’s visual language emerges from the grey area where text is not only meaning but also form. He expresses this in drawn puns, imaginary record sleeves, and large psychedelic paintings. An accomplished visual artist, he has been nominated for the Volkskrant Beeldende Kunstprijs and had a solo exhibition at the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.

Says the artist, "This album is spatial and points to a certain place, or places, inside. Not all feelings are equally clear to me so music, and where I make it, is vital for investigation and discovery. Some people are very verbal in their emotional expression; I need music. It’s my ultimate safe space where I can tell myself 'here I am, this is me.' It’s an embrace of myself, and I think many people need to embrace themselves more, in whatever way suits them. Once there, I can become part of the people and the places around me. I’m free to connect again. This album is an attempt to instigate the voice that I am currently experiencing emotionally.

After spending most of the past year deep in the studio, Milio returns to VIAVIA with Vocoder Boi EP. This genre-blurring three-track release showcases his wide sonic palette and passion for hands-on sound design. Produced entirely in his trusted home base, the EP captures the spirit of pure experimentation and creative freedom.

The title track, Vocoder Boi, draws inspiration from dubstep and is driven by raw textures crafted using a real vocoder, not for vocals, but as a sound design tool to shape its gritty, futuristic edge. Close to You dives into deep dub techno territory, built around percussive rhythms and an ethereal sampled vocal. Finally, Rotations closes the EP on a high note with a warm, deep house groove, melodic, uplifting, and unmistakably Milio.

With Vocoder Boi EP, Milio embraces experimentation and diversity, delivering a record that feels both personal and adventurous, while remaining grounded in his distinct sonic identity.

'Allround Player' features vocalist Sjengsen delivering a forlorn vocal hook over a light but choppy house beat and dark bassline. The track is constantly ascending, with a rugged lead synth phrase making way for more delicate and dreamy pads, before subtle acid also colours these warm and wavy grooves.

The exquisite synth craft continues on the soothing interplanetary trip that is 'Goenavund.' Its twinkling ambient pads and deep, mid-tempo drums are topped off with a pinch of cosmic dust and a fat, irresistible acid bassline.

'Veluw,' which was written in a cabin in De Veluwe, a vast forest in the Netherlands which had a clear impact on the sounds. Streams of lush melody, harmonic bell sounds and subtle clicks all unfold in loose yet elegant fashion up top and slowly but surely lock you in a trance. Sweeping strings add scale and bring plenty of positive emotions.

It was so great to be back at this amazing club. And you know what? I played a dj set without any crowd pleasers.  Man, I was excited as hell, my hands were shaking. I hadn’t felt that in a long time. But wow, what a vibe. I love playing those afterhour sets.
