Osain is the Orisha of medicinal plants and is a healer.  Osain is the owner of all plants and trees in the forest.  He is hugely important to Babalawo’s (priests of Ifa) because they work with plants to make remedies.  Osain is always consulted when using the magical and medicinal qualities of plants so the Babalawo’s have extensive knowledge of Osain.  I think of Osain songs when walking in the woods, and when I take medicine.  Whether it is herbal or pharma, most medicine in the world comes from plants.  I am grateful for the secret life force of plants! Aché Osain.

What started off as a joke mix somehow became way too enjoyable not to share.  Guilty pleasures, yacht rock, and all the schmaltz you can swallow!  I like to call these songs Supermarket Sweepers or Elevator Jumpoffs - since those are the 2 places you're most likely to hear this kind of crap.  This is the type of music that makes you roll up your windows at the traffic light, and could instantly destroy that street cred you've been working so hard to attain.  You've been warned, now listen at your own risk.  Stay Smooth!

Philadelphia-raised musician Maxfield Gast has been widely recognized for his performance as a saxophonist, composer and producer. As a featured artist he has released several albums all on the Militia Hill label. 
 Maxfield has constructed an extensive discography having recorded on over 60 albums and has worked with a wide variety of Grammy Award winning artists including Cage The Elephant, Reggie Watts, Louis C.K., Scot Sax and Bakithi Kumalo. He composed and performed the music for all 5 seasons of FX Network’s multi Emmy Award and Golden Globe winning series “Louie” as a member of studio band SweetPro.
