ALREALON MUSIQUE (APRIL 2015)

Rasplyn is the solo project of Carolyn O’Neill who uses her experience with classical composition and film to create mystical and visual landscapes with her music. Her music is dark, but beautiful and filled with textured layers influenced by world culture and fantasy. Her style is transforming as she experiments with adding vocal elements into the environments she creates. Her collaborations with JOHN 3:16 mix his guitars and beats with layers of her clarinet and vocals to create ambient drone pieces laced with sacred stillness. Her debut album, Scenes Through the Magic Eye, was released via Mythical Records on November 30, 2014.

"Kiss the Dark" —words borrowed from an ancient Irish Poem by artist L. Mylott Manning, who created a piece of the same title- essentially a dress, covered in various watches set to different times. In Manning's words, it is about taking steps into the unknown, leaving comfort zones and having faith in one’s own success.

Michael Durek aka theUse, created “Time Pieces” for the opening of “Kiss the Dark” at a boutique watch store in Manhattan called House of Horology. It was performed with an accompanying video from Jim Tuite.

In creating the track, “Time Pieces”, theUse shirks structures found on his debut release, and ditches looped drum clips in favor of hand programming and playing every note. The ghost-like manipulated voice of his sister-in-law can be heard teaching his nieces to say “Shu Shu” - which means "Uncle" in Mandarin. Durek recorded a sweet moment in a rose garden, by some wind chimes - those too can be heard on the release. Elements of jazz, synth-wave, and dark ambient grace the recording. And as always, wistful theremin carries the melodies of the track.

theUse wasn’t held back by the need to create crude drops and 8bar structures, but rather was drawn into the process of creation that Manning described when she took that title “Kiss the Dark”. It is better to enter the cave and take the road less traveled.

Internationally acclaimed French sound-artist Philippe Petit, the self-described, "musical travel agent" in conjunction with French/Swiss label Alrealon Musique, announce the release of 'Eugenie'.
Comprising four stellar tracks of avant-garde/classical/soundtrack and released as a 10-inch vinyl record and digital. This stunning piece of musical modern art entitled 'Eugenie' (ALRN029/ALRN-VL002) will be available on May 28, 2012.

Philippe Petit describes 'Eugenie' as "a cinematic adventure, where luscious string arrangements convey a whole world of emotion and the organic sound of the instruments is never overshadowed by the machines. The EP came to mind with the birth of my daughter Eugenie who is now 4 and its' artwork was made by her under the guidance of her mother.
