Deep In Thought (A Tribute to Millinz'one)

Blinded

(Stanza 1 - Visual - a close up of a  black female black with a small afro, sitting on a chair, blinking. As we get closer to the pupil we see silhouettes of people protesting, marching, social unrest, flag waving)

Stanza 1
Most believe what they believe,
while ignoring the very thing they see.
Finding evidence where non exists
destroys the already frayed fabric of society.

(Stanza 2 - Visual ~ A few people march away from the crowd before gathering in numbers again and marching up a hill before planting a flag of the Stars and Stripes in the ground.)

Stanza 2
Unable to make sense of the world
forever sowing seeds of suspicion.
There’s no way the bad guys are us
for we’re a perfect God fearing nation.

(Stanza 3 - Visual - Zooming in on one of the stars in the flag, then pulling out to reveal many stars in space and the earth rotating in the solar system. Before zooming back into earth, South Africa and the female on the chair from Stanza 1.
She is now wearing a blindfold and has a degree cap, while holding her degree scroll.  Getting off of the chair she marches past a war memorial wall)

Stanza 3
You’re faced with a simple choice,
it’s time to show your allegiance.
If you’re for them, your against us,
choose now or forever deny your grievance.
Lady justice, eternally blindfolded,
while we scrabble in the dirt for our excuse.
We can rotate for 360 degree views,
yet the feted educated choose not to.

(Stanza 4 - visual
She marches past the wall into a larger group of people all marching in a circle, following each other. As we pull out we see they are marching in a downward spiral into a giant crumbling hole in the ground.
In time for the last line we zoom into the hole and the hole becomes pupil of the characters eye as she sits again on the chair with an emotionless expression.)

Stanza 4
Just because you’re blessed with sight
doesn’t mean you’ve been blessed with vision.
The blind eagerly leading the blind 
is now the worlds fastest growing religion.
If everything is what it seems,
then what it seems needs a drastic review.
Maybe true change will only occur
when the pillars of privilege crumble upon you.
