Live recording from a special daytime event at The Social in London. 

I never normally record the audience in my mixes, but, for some strange reason, there seems to have been a mic active on my device picking up the crowd. My aversion to this is that, apart from the general ambience of the room, it also picks up people chatting in or around the booth, especially in a small compact space like we were in. I hope this isn’t distracting, but, weighing things up, it was such a good day, and its so long since I’ve uploaded a mix to SoundCloud, that I think it’s only right to share regardless.

This mix has been simmering in my mind for a while and pays tribute to a teen club in Chattanooga, TN that I used to hit up on Sunday nights back in the late ’80s and early ’90s. The vibe there was heavy on New Jack Swing, Hip-Hop, and a bit of UK Street Soul.

I vividly remember hearing “Shake Your Rump” from Paul’s Boutique for the first time in that spot—it completely mesmerized me. That track’s not in this mix, though. We’ll save it for another one.

This mix leans more toward the kind of joints you’d hear at the beginning of the night. Stuff that maybe playing as the spot filled up with ladies for the evening ;)

Kracker Jack's - New Jack Swing & UK Street Soul vinyl mix

Recorded live poolside at Pikes Hotel Ibiza on June 24th 2025. I played 3 hours from late afternoon into early evening on a very very hot day !  
First 45 minutes was all styles before settling at 100 bpm (ish) for the rest of the session.
The whole 13 hour day was amazing with superb sessions from DJ Gripper, Legendary Italian producer Don Carlos, Ibiza overlord Andy Wilson, and ace DJ and producer Willie Graff.

Probably one of the most sampled records ever! I was commissioned by Ten12 Records to do a re-edit of this classic joint in 2006. Though this is my favorite version, it was never released on the final 12-inch. I was happy to know that the surviving members of the group enjoyed this re-work. I hope you do, too!
