Far Out Recordings presents a huge peak time space-funk excursion from Italian duo Ad Bourke & ROTLA (Raiders of the Lost Arp), with a remix from Chicago deep-house architect Ron Trent adding extra intensity to the aptly titled ‘RAW’.

Having confirmed themselves as Rome’s premiere polymaths for all things electronic and funky (with releases on Space Dimension Controller’s Basic Rhythm, Five Fold, Cinite, Tusk Wax and Really Swing) AD Bourke & Rotla’s musicality and altogether physical approach to sequencers, samplers, drum machines and synths, has seen plaudits from the likes of Dam Funk, Gilles Peterson, Benji B, Laurent Garnier, Jimmy Edgar, Martyn and Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir.

Taken from their forthcoming album for Far Out, RAW gives you huge live drums, seriously deft rhodes noodling, and a galactic ocean of synth layers, making for a hyperkinetic yet altogether refreshingly organic, outer-national future-disco belter. 

Taking a similar approach to that of his recent remix of Azymuth’s Fênix (also on Far Out), Ron Trent takes RAW into harder territory, giving it an extra coat of slick, stripping back and tightening the original before adding his own layers of kaleidoscopic synth-lines and pad progressions.

Sometimes there’s a huge talent out there and you desperately want the whole universe to discover it. That’s pretty much the story of parisian label Chuwanaga with young french artist Koji Ono, composer and producer of these four precisely crafted gems, recording everything by himself.

Brilliantly mixed by Greita from Disques Flegon, his first EP Incognito is the product of a lot of influences, from Metro Area vibes to the original Britfunk sound. With an inner sense of elegance in the arrangements - something we may link to his japanese heritage ? - the whole EP brings musicality back on the dancefloor.

We believe this could be the beginning of a great story for this talented musician, Koji Ono emerging from the incognito shadow to the whole light of the world. Don’t miss out !

We welcome Ed Longo and his studio project The Applied Arts Ensemble debut on Early Sounds with “The Other Fantasy”, the result of many recording sessions that took place in different places around Europe with an array of musicians from a predominantly jazz background.
Conceived with a strong jazz-funk, fusion and boogie approach, the record is conceptualized around the quest for Otherness in the schizophrenia of the digital age, and the resulting exotic dystopias which we are confronted with every day.
