This was my last assignment for Music Technology in the first year. We had to record various sounds and make music out of them. I'd decided to go all the way, therefore some of the sounds recorded by me are... slightly controversial. They include train horns, my couging, and other things that i better not mention here...
But just to let you know: this composition does not feature anything coming from animals. Also, one of its 'themes' was my inspiration for one of the other songs you can find here. Guess which one.

VALUS (acousmatic composition)

This was one of my 2nd year assignments. It got 68, so i was well pleased. I started writing it on the 13th of March 2013, which was the day I found out that Clive Burr, ex-Iron Maiden drummer, passed away. I was really saddened and this is why the composition sounds very sad / gloomy until 2:40. Clive had always been my favourite member of the band, you could tell he just lived for music. Meeting him will remain one of these dreams that will never come true. If you listen closely, you can hear the root / minor 3rd / 4th / minor 6th / 5th progression - same as in one of the instrumental breaks in "Phantom of the Opera" from Maiden's debut album. RIP Clive!

The more joyful part that starts at 2:40 was written couple of weeks later - I was inspired by "Rock you like a hurricane" by Scorpions. That's interesting, because it doesn't sound like it at all. The most interesting bis is between 3:33 and 4:07 - from extremely joyful / flippant to extremely sad. Also: after 6:00 it sounds kind of crap, if you ask me. That's because I was running out of ideas. Still, i think it's not that bad.

My favourite genres of music vary from pop to death/thrash metal, that is: from Simon&Garfunkel or Gershon Kingsley to Death or Morbid Angel. There are also some bands I do not like: Guns'n'Roses, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica...
