Orbita 07 - Morphing Territories

We introduce a fresh mix from the OBRIY series, carefully curated by @marazuli

Basel-based mara zuli is passionate about diverse musical styles from different eras. Her sets combine percussive technoid and bass-influenced sounds that create a deep and psychedelic-energetic atmosphere. The co-founder of Strasbourg-based collective Menthe Poivrée is always on the lookout for new concepts and collaborations, combining the fields of music, audiovisual and aesthetics. By organising events, mara zuli defends a diverse and inclusive music scene. Her residency on Swiss radio TRNSTN will start from march on.

MIX SERIES 003 MARA ZULI

We're delighted to share with you Synthtati's set recorded during the transience curated night at Whole Festival last year. During these three hours, Synthtati takes us on an incredible journey through moments of dubby, glitchy percussions into surreal atmospheres and more playful moments all emerging from a bi-directional drone setting a pschedellic mood for the rest of the night. 

Synthtati has the following to say about their set : 
This soundscape was manifested for the ambient stage opening, invoking memories of an ecstatic atmosphere in the woods under the stars, flamboyant queer people celebrating life on a hot July night.
I had 3 hours to envision a spectrum of sonic nuances: refined elegance of distorted rhythms, cinematic nostalgia, mysterious organics, musique concrète, spoken word, ASMR whispers, and intricate textures.
Initiating with the ethereal resonance of the Shepard's tone as a countdown point, this mix collages 3 musical channels complimenting one anoher simultaneously and merging into one sonic tapestry resonating with me deeply.

Last year in September I released the album ‘Quiet Rooms’ on the British label Whitelabrecs. The tracks on this album were a kind of self-healing process to refocus on home life after a long absence caused by working far away. At that time I was making a lot of improvised music and recording many ideas and sketches. After selecting the tracks for ‘Quiet Rooms’, some ideas, feelings, blurred images and unfinished tracks remained, which later became a solid base for ‘All Our Yesterdays’. Over the course of 2024, more recordings were made and - voilà - a new album was born.

'All Our Yesterdays' is probably a bit more introspective, exploring the spaces between the notes in a much deeper and broader way. So each track is quite transparent in atmosphere and sound, with piano notes, electronic textures and strange sounds drifting in and out. As always, all was recorded mainly at night in dim lighting to focus on what's important to me and my music. ‘All Our Yesterdays’ could be seen as a metaphor for missed moments on the one hand and great moments with the people you love on the other. Deep contemplation with a sense of serenity and balanced stillness - some things don't change...

The cover picture was taken in autumn at a nearby lake, when everything was already prepared and waiting for winter.

With a focus on introducing adventurous music, building creative networks domestically and internationally, and fostering collaboration across diverse fields, MIMINOIMI aims to bring these goals to life even further. Along with producing live shows and talk events, MIMINOIMI is launching the ”MIMINOIMI podcast”.

In the post-pandemic era and the age of streaming, the diversity of online music platforms has reached new heights. In this context, the "MIMINOIMI podcast" serves as an experimental space that complements live events, supporting new forms of music distribution, connection, and development.

The podcast will feature a range of content, including ambient mixes by DJs, intimate music selections from musicians’ bedrooms, and various discussions and interviews related to sound and music. These will be shared from multiple angles on SoundCloud.
