Switzerland’s Mina Records turns to the new partnership of Our Loving Sun for its 12th release, and serves it up with a standout remix from countryman Ripperton. Our Loving Sun is a new band project that sees Swede Anders Ilar and American Chris Yard team up to create a melange of ambient, dub techno, acid, pop and synth wave music with plenty of orchestral additions and guest appearances. 

Opening track ‘To Disappear’ is a swelling electronic composition filled with subtle bass guitar riffs, soaring vocals and clouds of melody that all blissful blend into one another. Like Trentemoller but at his most warm and romantic, this is rich and ethereal music. 
The same track gets remixed by Tamed boss Ripperton off the back of his own latest full length. The result is a typically long – 8 minutes –track that is epic in ambition. It takes a while to unfold from just a kick drum, but by the time it’s in full flow is a dramatic
concoction of frosty percussion, chilly icicle like melodies and a frazzled bassline that would fit perfectly into one of Ame’s most cultured sets.

‘Come Apart’ is more rooted to a steady and propulsive kick drum but again the soundscape above is awash with various guitar lines and celestial synths that light up the track from behind with a heavenly glow. There are shades of everything from Joy Division to Depeche Mode, Kraut rock to New Wave bottled up within, and it makes for absorbing listening. 

Finally, ‘One Source’ slows to a deep dub wise swagger. The vocals are haunting and ghostly – so too the lone guitar strings that get plucked – and the whole thing sounds like a huge underwater chamber with gentle currents churning and piercing beams of light shooting down through it all. 

Our Loving Sun manage to sound organic and electronic, old and new at exactly the same time. Is a clever tick masterfully pulled off, and recognition must go to Mina for unearthing this exciting pair in the first place.

Mina Recordings return with its thirteenth EP from Masaya ‘Angel’, with a Petar Dundov remix in tow.

The Chilean born and Swiss based producer Claudia Ayala aka Masaya has been making her mark for some time with a string of impressive releases on labels such as NUM, Perspectiv and of course her own imprint Mina Records. Since it’s formation in 2008 the small & perfectly formed label has welcomed names like Ripperton, Nhar, Agnes & Chaton to its roster while the head honcho herself returns for the thirteenth EP alongside Petar Dundov.

For her original ‘Angel’ Masaya utilises pulsating bass and shifting drums to map out an infectious groove over a brooding synth arrangement and ethereal modulations to dish up a dark & infectious techno cut that gets the EP off to a dynamic and head turning start.

Up for remix duty Claudia enlisted Cocoon & Music Men Records man Petar Dundov to put his own stamp on ‘Angel’. For his re-imagining the multi-talented producer works out a delicate & ambient techno record cultivated over brooding bass, lush tantalizing melodies, twinkling synths and shifting percussion to give the track an organic, expansive and emotive pallet of sound that keeps you locked and entranced from start to finish.

Following on from label-head Masaya's ‘Angel’ EP that picked up support from the likes of Peter Van Hoesen, Osunlade and Vince Watson, the ever-impressive Mina Recordings is back this March with Sabota & Grenier ‘Two Hands’ with remixes from Sei A and Sam K

‘Two Hands’ is a moody yet powerful opener featuring ethereal and emotive vox that reverberates around whirring atmospherics and soft arpeggios while it’s counterpart, ‘Piece by Piece’ is similarly melodic with honeyed tones, spongey production and hushed vocals mingling with airy pads.

First up for remix duty is Aus & Turbo Recordings man Sei A. For his version of ‘Two Hands’ he tears through to the other end of the musical spectrum with a no-nonsense techno cut cultivated for late hours and dark rooms. Last and by no means least Sam K delves into upbeat percussive rhythms, shimmering modulations and oscillating keys to round things off in deep and dynamic fashion.

Mina records head honcho Masaya returns to her ever-impressive imprint this june with a blistering four track EP " La Nuit", featuring a remix from Agaric.

EP opener "La Nuit" shimmers into life over buttery synths and shifting percussion while ghostly intonations and warm resonations combine to deliver a deep and affecting cut that immediately leaves you wanting more. For the B-side Claudia teams up with fellow vocalist Anders Ilar to deliver "Stars", a sumptuous affair with delicate percussive arrangements and long-drawn-out synths. Drumcode and Ovum recordings affiliate Agaric steps up for remix duty and utilizes dynamic hooksand hypnotic rhythms to dish up an infectious version of "Stars".

For the digital bonus Masaya takes things somewhat deeper with a re-imagining of "Stars" and works out a melancholic house groove with sublime ease to round off the elegant four-track EP in style.

Claudia Ayala AKA Masaya has been a respected member of House music’s inner sanctum since the release of her collaborative single with Ripperton on the Num Records label back in 2006. Since then she has gone on to release through labels such as Perspectiv and Meerestief and has launched her own Mina Records imprint, a label that has boasted music from the likes of Clara Moto, Pawas and Nhar as well as Ayala herself.Now Masaya is ready for the release of her brand new single, the 11th
release on the Mina label, entitled the ‘Rosas EP’.

The EP kicks off with the original version of ‘Ganas’, a soothing and rolling slice of offbeat, bass driven House music that features subtle vocal parts, understated melodies and an incessant bouncing vibe, quality stuff. The original version is accompanied by a remix from Romanian producer Mihai Popoviciu who strips things back and delivers a techy and hypnotic mix that provides a solid alternative.

The B side opens with the ‘dub version’ of ‘Get You’ a deep and heady piece of melodic techno that marries gentle emotive elements with a rock solid bass driven groove and Ayala’s haunting vocals. Once again the original is backed with a remix, this time provided by the prolific Swedish producer Andes Ilar who turns in and intense and atmospheric mix that journeys into gothic house territory, sublime.
