Each week i take a deep dive into a group of genres that have helped shape my sound as Mincy today. 

Being asked to do this residency has been one of the coolest things I’ve done! What an opportunity to share with literally all of Australia the music im so passionate about each week, and creating these mixes was so enjoyable - not only have I rediscovered some classics in the depths of my hard drives that will definitely be making their way back into some of my sets but also some of the memories that came with each of these tunes. As I play so many genres in my live shows having been able to focus on a sound each week has been so much fun to really give them each the full moment that I sometimes don’t get to do out live.

Week three of my Triple J Mix Up Residency and we’re going clubbing baby!! Glow sticks out, sunglasses on in the club, this weeks theme in The History of Mincy is Club and Rave Classics: 90 til Now.

Mix Up Residency Week 3 - Rave and Club Classics 90s til Now

Week 2 of my Triple J Mix Up Residency and it’s special!!! This week we’re doing a deep dive into two of my biggest and longest loves - grime and dubstep. 

I was lucky enough to be clubbing in Aus right when dubstep hit our shores and it completely changed the trajectory of what I was listening to at the time - I was hooked instantly. I also was lucky enough to spend a lot of time in the grime scene in the UK during my years living there - my very first DJ slots where I learnt to mix were on the home of grime Mode FM, and I spent many nights from 1am to 6am up in that little sweat dungeon mixing my little heart out with some of the biggest grime MCs hosting our late night sessions. 

If you’ve heard people refer to me in write ups as the queen of bass this mix should hopefully solidify why 😅😅 Riding through some of the tunes that I have so many dance floor memories both in Sydney and UK, and also including some early dubstep productions of my own. I’ve brought along my most trusted MC and one of my favourite tune collaborators Askew Bedu to host it.
