DIARY OF DREAMS - a dark embrace (from "Elegies in Darkness")

High Hopes - Pink Floyd - (Piano Cover by Mindtraveller)

A substantial night-time piece for solo piano that captures many flavours - dreaminess, wistfulness, longing, loneliness, yearning, and tranquillity - in an overarching mellifluous flow of melody and pianistic textures. I composed the piece in 2010 and only recently chanced upon the score again: it was a very pleasing rediscovery. I particularly like the penultimate passage which drifts into C minor, finding there a fresh and tender feeling. It has made me think that I must write some more nocturnes...!
