And now for some even more lush listening music to spend the night to by 1/2 of French duo Dusty Corners, Hoel. Hoel makes his solo debut appearance with this lustrous collection of dubby, groovy house tracks topped with layers of twitchy vocal samples, drowsy synths and warm atmospherics that would put any aphrodisiac-infused bath to shame. 

Hoel uses his space generously and intuitively succeeds in balancing out the numerous sonic stimuli, creating a theatrical if not movie-like backdrop to all the sleep-blurred sounds he employs. The tracks progress like in a concert, chemically reshaping their sounds into similar new ones, flowing into each other. While 'Blush' is the standout track of the EP, the other 5 sustain it with elegance and precision. 

The whole EP is a pleasure to listen to and at times it feels like a performance in a postmodern theatre rather than music you would expect in a club environment.

Back when I was still studying drums, I had to practice ‘Rudimentsʼ on the snaredrum to improve my chops. Exercises in technique which had to be practiced to perfection.

I donʼt play the drums anymore, in part because as an artist I feel a constant need to reinvent myself. And as Iʼm doing this, iʼm creating new rudiments to practice.

In this way Rudiments are a crucial part of my creative cycle. This song is in honour of Rudiments.

"FFRANCIS is like a completely autonomous person. Like a child of yours on one hand, like a close friend on the other.” says Misia Furtak, who with Piotr Kalinski (aka Hatti Vatti) recorded "Off The Grid". An album with 13 premiere songs, where distorted guitars collide with drum machines. "The album is a collection of strange songs.” - Piotr describes their collective work. “It's really hard to assign it to a specific genre which is probably its unique advantage -
you won’t get bored, because the next song will surely surprise you with a twist you didn’t expect.” „It's a chronicle of our collective work fluctuating from cool to lava eruptions. It's neither my record, nor Misia's separately - I hear the four of our hands in it, so to say, I hear the spirit of this band. On top of everything else the work
was also demanding, because we did almost everything on our own. We recorded big parts of the album at our homes and where we lived changed multiple times during the process. We recorded at our friend’s apartment in the old town in Warsaw, which we turned into a recording studio. I recorded some ancient analog bit machines at a repair workshop of Maciek Polak of Analogia.pl and Pin Park, and a 200 years old organ at a rehearsal space in Reykjavík. My Icelandic friend's grandfather used to play them at their church, which brings us to Iceland and nicely closes the topic of volcanoes.” - Piotr Kaliński describes the recording process.
The 43 minutes spent with FFRANCIS bring something new each time you listen to the album. There are surprises hidden within the tracks in example the already mentioned 200-year-old organ from Reykjavík and a Casio toy keyboard recorded though a mobile phone, just to name a few. These surprising details make “Off The Grid” even more special. A debiut record, which comes more than 2 years after the first joint recording of Misia and Piotr - a 7’ single released worldwide on U Know Me Records.

Krown, aka Steve Lui, has had a longstanding love affair with music. From playing
in school bands, to constantly listening to the radio, music has been an integral part of his life. Upon discovering early 80s English dance music like Duran Duran,The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees and the raw energy of the Sex Pistols, his record collection grew... the beginning of a new addiction. 

When house music reared it’s soulful groove, he was hooked, and this DJ's unique sense of dancefloor innovation was born. Simon Lock is a house music DJ & Producer with origins way back into 1991 at the start of the Edmonton Electronic music scene. With roots deep into the indie
scene as frontman of Indie Dance band Terrace (under the moniker of SimonTerrace), Lock incorporates these sounds into his DJ sets and production style.

Recent teaming up of Krown & Lock, Vancouver DJ stalwart DJ Krown has scene the release of their debut EP “CHAMELEON ” Vancouver’s Nordic Trax label, which included a remix of the title track by Johnny Fiasco and Brett Johnson, and was featured on Laurent Garnier’s radio show. Further to this a new release entitled DIPLOMATICO is here on Vancouver’s legacy label Deepen furthering their venture into making quality house. Featuring vocals by Vancouver chanteuse Tara Burnett and a remix from Vancouver staples Vernon Douglas and Gavin Froome.

After cult heroes Bicep delivered the inescapable sell-out ‘Stripper’ earlier this year, the second Love Fever release comes from burning London talent, Citizen and features a ‘Deeper Touch’ collaboration from Detroit’s wayward freakster, Jimmy Edgar.
 
Born out of East London's underground party, Love Fever Records seeks to expand on the erotic potency of the parties late nights and early mornings guided by residents come label owners A&A. The emerging sound, a heavy leaning on purist house dosed up on sleaze, grinding up against something to some romantic techno.
 
A Love Fever regular, Laurence Blake AKA Citizen is the dreaded up South London cool kid with a fresh sound full of modernity and attitude. His productions punch so hard, A&A stole him from their dancefloor after a personal demo delivery impelled the boys to get the music on record for the world to hear. Quietly rocking London dancefloors with his heavily defined, underground sound for the past few years, parallels have since been drawn with major British breakthroughs Julio Bashmore and Wbeeza. With the debut ‘Deep End EP’ on Kerri Chandler’s MadTech causing a stir Citizen looks set to become a prolific talent as he enters the Love Fever Records hall of infamy.
 
A side ‘Room Service’ gives you that call girl temptation, getting straight to the point with smoky bass and teasing intonations leading up to the flipped out vocal, stabbing synths and body rocking drop. ‘You Give me that something is the warmer, body melting B side, soulful vocals in pools of distorted chords and immersed in Citizen’s signature sound bed of rich bass filtered through a tight house groove. Add to that Jimmy Edgars twisted take on the Love Fever parties sound that slows down in tempo but with an added electronic sensuality for a “Deeper Touch” and you have something rather beautiful.
 
With a wandering hand in the pool of the globes most revered house and techno elite, expect future Love Fever releases with luminaries such as Larry Heard, Wolf + Lamb as well as the boys themselves…
