Austin native Somatoast returns with his second Gravitas album release, ‘Goop’, available now on all digital outlets. No stranger to the experimental and psychedelic realms of electronic music, Mark Rubin draws on IDM and glitch influences to provide a seven track sonic thrill ride full of visceral soundscapes and alluring melodies. Intricate sound design is his hallmark, and with finesse he effortlessly incorporates his refined palette into both dubby and downtempo frameworks.

‘Goop’ begins with “Nodus Tollens”, a smooth and laid back opener with heavy focus on ominous ambiance. The futuristic concoction “Obscurity Security” comes next, chock full of cosmic textures which perfectly set the tone for the entire album. Wonky and upbeat, “Polytricks” resets the pace before diving into the dreamy title track, a silky creation sure to send you adrift through the galaxy. “Spunning Song” builds on the celestial theme and injects velvety, groovy basslines for a funky and fluid finish. The last original offering on the album, “Robot Rain Drops”, is at times sensual and seductive, but the blissful flow is interrupted with upbeat sections peppered throughout. Wrapping up the release, remixing artist Zonra layers his abstract atmospheric style over the already sturdy foundation provided by Somatoast for his take on “Goop”.

As we move forward in time, irreversible events occur. An endless web of reactions unfolds. Imagination, matter, and spirit guide us through a universe composed of both order and chaos. So little is understood, yet we have come so far. It seems that all there is to know could be laid out as a single, interminable and fluid experience. But beyond this, what is next?

The Last Question is a culmination of over a year’s experimentation and emotional involvement with sound. This release pushes further into the Sixis project, exposing new worlds and new journeys. Abstract ideas gel together into a precisely streamlined experience, simultaneously leaving a vast expanse up to the listener’s imagination. This album is a golden apple from Eris herself, a polymorphous journey soaring through the psychonautical altitudes of the here and never ever, peeling through the shifting layers of aural hallucinations to find some sort of sanity and spirit at the core. With moments of zen-like lysergic reflection mixed with bamboozling SNAFUs of pure spiritual vertigo ‘The Hallucinatory Mountain’ is the amalgamation of years of dedication and optimism, a promising seed with more fruit to bear.

5. Perpendicular (Dissolving Into A Seamless Something)

Conexion Divina (Divine Connection) is a five-track EP covering psychedelic breaks, dub, dubstep, glitch-hop, and downtempo. Across each of these songs, a different tempo or genre is given a fully psy exploration.

Fans of Ott, Bird of Prey, and Kalya Scintilla will each hearken to a particular familiar sound, and fans of label founders Desert Dwellers will be swept away in the ethereal vocals of closer “The Great Barrier Reef,” which is a tribute to one of the greatest wonders of the natural world, which has undergone such devastation over the past year.

Aquiver wants to remind fans that half the world's coral has disappeared in the past two decades. The title track itself is meant to evoke the story of systemic deforestation. In addition to presenting a collection of incredible productions, Aquiver has crafted a concept EP built around reconnecting human roots to nature.
