Hell yeah, chill landskapes of jiggly frequency modulation

Based out of Portland, Oregan, the producer and multi-instrumentalist Devin Kroes has spent the last six years and counting tapping into a variety of psybient styles across a choice collection of tracks. Ahead of his Breathe EP release through the Danktronics platform, the Rust was given the opportunity to premiere the effusive track “Bloom”, featuring the soul-drenched sax lines of ST4RFOX.

Wielding a pristine level of clarity and tonal balance, Kroes dances between lush vocal samples and vibrant layers of synthesis. Each passing phrase paints the next hue across the landscape of the song, building on additive arrangements and fleshing out the literal breath of the track. At high point of the musical narrative, ST4RFOX breaks into a spirited saxophone run that ties off “Bloom” with a proper resolution, leaving the track to fade out between ripples of waning chords. Hey everybody!  This was my submission for the Tipper and Friends DJ competition to play at Tipper's festival in April of 2016.  This mix features four unreleased tunes as well as two from my last release with Merkaba.  The <3 and repost button help out with the contest.  Enjoy!

Big thanks to Dave and congrats on having the festival.  Tipper has set the benchmark and greatly inspired myself and so many others with his meticulously crafted music.  This set is an ohmage to him.

A Developmental Expedition [Full Album Mix]

My interpretation of @jongomm 's beautiful 'Passionflower'. The goal was to spin the percussive guitar sounds into another soothing downtempo electronic ballad, so I kept the synth, bass, and percussive work VERY minimal - I wanted all the details to shine on this one. Enjoy :)
