3.	Amana – Maz (BR) and VXSION
Just beautiful and has a reflective sound that swims through the air. 

4.	Love Recycled 2 – Solomun
Nearly wet myself the first time I heard this, simple, clever, growling bass, oof!

5.	Wall Flower (Lane 8 Mix) – Maribou State
Great big track that is dreamy and I enjoy every time I hear it. 

6.	Lets Dance (Arodes Remix) – Tommy Farrow and Arodes
Love this vocal, uplifting, emotional, take on the world with the smile, track.

7.	I will do better – THEMBA (SA)
So funky and beautiful, that vocal, every sound in this track has a place, just a quality track from Themba. 

8.	Somebody’s Story – Solomun
Deep grooving track, love this sound, emotional and dreamy.

9.	Prayer – Prospa
Love the electro sounds on this, not sure why I like it, but I really do.

10.	BeatOn (Original) – Disco Lights
My latest unreleased track. I found the vocal and that track grew from there. I picture a smoke filled dancefloor with ‘Disco Lights’ all in slow motion when I listen to it, deep, bassy track, let me know what you think.  

11.	Slow Motion (Extended Mix) – Zoe Kypri and Bajau
Similar to track 5, I like the way the track breaks out and has a warm summery, sun is going down, standing on the beach vibe. 

12.	Blind Faith (THEMBA’S Herd Mix) – Gospel House Choir
Another THEMBA track, great track, balanced and fun vocal, the type of track I love to hear on a dancefloor. 

13.	Ordinary (Lake People’s Circle Motive Remix) Kollektiv Turmstrasse
Love the original and am as in love with the Lake Peoples remix, big warm bass and pulls at all my senses.

14.	Halycon – Dee Montero
Another track I love and would love to hear on the dancefloor, feels like its filling me with sunshine. 

15.	Amazon – Peter Makto, Gregory S
Tribal, groovy track, I want to hear this played on a huge sound system. 

16.	I Don’t Know – Pofio
The vocal and groove on this really gets me, great story track.

Mind In Music - Episode 1 - May 2024

This month we have Fauxplay as our guest artist. He has put together a mix that shares his love and passion for music. I have added his links and bio below, including the track list.

Fauxplay started clubbing and producing in the early 90s when dance music was in your face, hooky and immediate - he was drawn in by the hardcore breaks scene; seminal artists like 2BadMice, The Prodigy and Blapps Posse got him into music production - all those big synths, sped up hip hop drum loops and sudden drops and hands in the air moments created a big impression on a young mind. It was many years later that the influences of deeper, more progressive dance music in the 00s which latterly created the ‘Fauxplay' moniker to release his own material. Along the way though, and through many collaborations, Fauxplay acquired a taste for a broad range of electronic music and so when he plays out he often crosses genres (and sometimes decades!) depending on his and the crowd's mood. This mix is therefore a bit of a journey in that regards, and a little self-indulgent in that he has joined together a collection of his favourite tracks over the last couple of years and some newly found ones, focusing on hooks, melodies and musical feel over groove energy - although hopefully it will get your head nodding along the way! The mix starts with fairly chilled electronica but picks up energy and pace progressing through melodic breaks into tuneful deep/progressive house. A couple of stand out tracks on here worth mentioning are the opener by Matthew Shustack called the Architect, he's a relatively unknown artist and someone Fauxplay just stumbled upon accidentally - the track is about 4 years old, but was so beautiful he just had to get it on his next mix and so that shaped the vibe for the whole mix....he’s a big fan of Jon Gurd too, and his track Dots is a-typical for him, beautiful sounds and melodies washing out and cool skippy breaks with organic sounds reminiscent of Bonobo. Marsh's Blue track is just beautiful, not one he plays out much but Marsh is a benchmark for Fauxplay productions as his tracks always evoke a good feeling. It would be remiss not to mention a couple of his own tracks on here😇: Forget is a four to the floor pumper with a rolling bassline and some dreamy arps that culminate (and why not?) with a big old school piano, due for release in July this year. Unchained is a new release just out on Music To Die For Records which has already entered the Beatport Releases chart at number 2 at the time of writing. Hi I'm Travers Beaton and welcome to Mind in Music! 

The idea behind the show is that myself or a guest Dj will be curating a monthly mix with tracks that have emotional significance and reflect our personal journeys. My hope is that this will become a great way to share meaningful music and connect with your audience on a deeper level. 

It adds a personal touch to the music experience and allows listeners to resonate with the emotions and experiences behind the selected tracks. Whether it's through my own curated mixes or those of guest DJs, this initiative can foster a sense of community and create a platform for sharing stories and experiences through music. 

I trust that you the audience will appreciate the authenticity and thoughtfulness behind each curated mix.
