Born of an intense struggle with nicotine addiction that I ultimately won. Created this song 6 weeks after I quit on a night when I was having intense cravings. I wanted so badly to go get a pack of cigarettes, but I also knew that after years of trying to quit that I was physically, emotionally, and spiritually done with it.

I felt like I was being ripped apart, so I turned to music. Instead of succumbing to my weakness, I channeled that energy into making this song from start to finish in about 3 hours. Recorded and produced entirely on a laptop with GarageBand and no external microphones or equipment, as that was all that I had available at the time. It was just me with my vocals, piano, djembe, and some quick soft synth bass midi programming.

People have described this song as dark, eerie, creepy, weird, etc. I would completely agree. Addiction is dark and creepy. That just happened to be my reality the night I created this.

Proud to say I haven't had a single drag off a single cigarette since July 15, 2004. To anyone else who's struggling with nicotine, if I was able to quit then you can do it, too.
