‘Idéa’ is Alpak’s debut EP on Mexican imprint Secuencias Temporales (ST). The Israelite artist created a four-track EP including a wide variety of sounds where percussion is always leading. The first track ‘Idéa’ is a slow-paced rather organic sounding piece of music containing steel-like drum sounds floating around a deep bassline, creating an extensive sonic dimension. 

‘Circular Experience’, the second track of the EP, hails towards a more techno-influenced sound fusing with the percussive experience from the first track of the EP. Daunting loops replicating alongside convoluted soundscapes give this track an other-worldly post-club aura. 

‘Enso’ is an evolving mood-maker that starts at the core of Alpak’s sound. Percussive rhythms transition into emotional synth lines that build up to a large ambience covered in FM synthesis. From this point, the track turns around making its way back to the humble, yet effective rhythmic exploration of the artist.  

The EP finishes off with ‘Bento’, a unique piece of music consisting of both stellar pads, glitchy percussive and a piano-like melody. The piece contributes a lot to Sequencias Temporales’ mindset. Where the label is not focused on genres, but rather on deep atmospheres and complex textures. Where the music truly contains a piece of its artist, shaped with soul and intelligence.

OW2 Yuki Matsumura - An

For Omen Wapta’s second release, Japanese producer Yuki Matsumura turns in four tracks of glitchy, experimental techno on his new EP, An. Born and raised in Kochi, Yuki began exploring PC and software production in 2007. His labyrinthine sound design is created through heavy processing and audio editing, resulting in an abstract and textural take on techno with a distinctive rhythmic edge.

Yuki released his debut album Without a Break via Moph Records in 2015, followed by 2016’s Edge for Artificial Domain, both of which demonstrated his balance of bass-heavy breaks and more introspective sounds. On his An EP, Yuki continues to develop his avant-glitch approach, pursuing an even more sparse and insular sound across its four tracks.

An elusive producer comes back with a new mantle: Ruff Cherry, last seen on the label in 2017, returns with an EP of shredded halftime drum & bass with jungle accents that etches out a dominating stance in the producer’s first foray outside the thresholds of techno. Hugely distant from a meager first stab at the genre, the Cork-based producer’s ‘Phantom Fortress’ EP proficiently demarcates a sparse battleground for conflicting and rhythmically harmonic drum flairs, enveloping bass, and taut sound design that is as compelling as it is exhilarating.

Pure Space returns with our final release of 2022, delivered by none other than Zara - a warm light shining from Naarm (Melbourne, Australia).

Crafted in the midst of Australia’s last summer, these tracks capture the blissful and euphoric feeling of warm weather and the potential it brings…

Starting on an ambient note and progressing to drum & bass, the release seeks to take listeners on a transcendental journey to a freaky realm.

We start with Pirr, a track representative of dawn and the new beginnings it brings. It’s an eerie, yet anticipatory feeling lingers in the air as the rising sun diminishes the darkness and reveals the beauty of the landscape. Soft kicks coupled with bird song gently grasp the attention, effortlessly drawing you into the release.

Guitar and reverb drums define the second track, Idyll. Switching the mood to melancholia where the track meanders around floaty vocals creating a gentle fluidity throughout.

Entering the DnB realm, Quixotic combines driving hi-hats, wubs, bass to instigate movement. The floating female vocals carry you through the track guiding you on what feels like a utopian dream.

Synthesised drums are combined with heavy bass, arps and breaks to represent the peak of the journey. A chaotic, albeit warm track with and trippy moments in time.

As the sun sets once again, the arc of the journey ends on acid synths, arps, claps and hi hats on Elysium. Transporting the listener into a sleep, a moment of peace or back down to earth.
