There are many different ways that the biosphere affects climate. Some produce greenhouse gases and promote warming of our planet through the greenhouse effect, while others reduce the amount of greenhouse gases promoting cooling of our planet. Thereby, by trapping heat, greenhouse gases contribute to our planet's warming and the biosphere provides the necessary environmental conditions for survival. And of course, Biosphere is the moniker of one Geir Janssen, who has been a constant influence on ambient music throughout his career. London producer Keplrr https://soundcloud.com/keplrr debuts on Midgar with 'Plumes'. Known for his productions on trendsetting outlets like Control Freak Recordings and Pressure Dome where he showed his excellent take on forward thinking broken techno music, right here for Midgar he uses a more straight forward approach with two versions of title track 'Plumes'. The original is a subtle, percussive and playful techno groover, where the 'Meditation Mix' flips this impeccable groove into an airy atmospheric after-house mood. Second track 'Pulse' continues on this breezy atmosphere, it's a floaty eyes-closed deep trip, with carefully arranged drums creating the perfect breakdown. Keplrr's creative process delves into the profound, seeking to encapsulate the sensation of falling or morphing, blurring the lines between reality and reverie. His aim is to transport listeners to a state somewhere between a dream and a trip, where the boundaries of perception dissolve, and the subconscious takes flight. This EP embodies that quest, each track a sonic voyage into the depths of consciousness.

Through the poplars, different echoes resonate.
Those old roots are already tired of the concrete jungles, of the indiscriminate usurpation of what once belonged to everyone, and of that trivial exploitation of the eternal for the most ephemeral purposes that so abound.
Does no one see the inherent brilliance in each moment, the hidden magic behind every 'simple' act? It is in that glow, behind the mirror, where the true reality hides, and no one seems to want to notice it; no one wants to see beyond their own reflection.
Or so it seemed. Little by little, curiosity, for lack of a better resource and having already discarded the rest of the options, seems to be having an effect on the disoriented masses in search of a direction. And while many have already dared to look and have even been on this side for a long time, there had never been an interest of this magnitude.
God is dead, the poets exclaim, and it must be because of this that the illusory balance that sustained banal existence lost its unstable stability.
For those who know how to listen, the trumpets that announce the coming of a different panorama resonate, where the old values ​​are no longer of any use.
Perhaps the poets are right.
Perhaps it was that old center that sought to give meaning to what has none, that with symbols tried to represent the greatest of abstractions, which retained a species with as much potential as can be imagined.
Will the news that the poets so much announce and that the trumpets keep exposing to the ears of those who are well attached to the greatest of illusions ever arrive? Will those deaf ears want to hear it?
It's just a matter of waiting and dancing, to the rhythm of the moon, while we do so. Thus leaving them, at least, a small trace of what it feels like to dwell behind the almost imperceptible veil that separates us.

ReTo - Soziopath

My biggest inspiration for writing music are my own experiences. That is usually the catalyst that pushes me to start a new track. Countless late night chats at shows, silly moments in my daily life, or special moments that I wish I could frame and hang on my wall. When I open up Ableton, I pretend I’m writing the soundtrack for a specific slice of life.

My creative choices for this EP were guided by a few key things. I wanted to combine two worlds I thoroughly enjoy…bass music and hip hop. That’s always something that gets me hyped. Another guiding creative force, is this dragon I’ve been chasing since 2016 when I first heard Kursa’s track, Pick Em Up. This tune, with it’s pounding hip hop drums, invokes a darkness I seek in left field music and tried to tap into with this EP. This tune was a staple in my sets for years as it was both something that usually perked a dancer’s attention, while also doubling as a DJ tool to dip into bass music or footwork. With trends in dance music coming and going, I remain obsessed with this combination. Lastly, I tried to create m a s s I v e baselines that would make teenage me bass face while yelling “ooooh” and gripping onto the rail at the front of any rave. As this started to shape into a full project, I decided I was not gonna hold myself to rigid deadlines and take my time to craft this album out until I felt satisfied with the end result.

One time, Rau and I were at a music festival and I hung my shoes under one of the stages. They stayed there throughout the weekend, safe and undisturbed. The photo of my shoes hanging there makes us giggle and we turned it into a missing poster for this EP. Inspired by a story we made up of a raver that fell in love with footwork so passionately that they had to take their shoes off due to how hot their feet felt while dancing, never to be seen again (the shoes).

Artificial intelligence, a sublabel of Warp.

The best of Warp records and ambient-techno from 1991 to 1998. In 1992, Warp records released the highly influential compilation Artificial intelligence that was 25 years ago. I made this mix of my favorite Warp tracks but also some other tracks released on similar influential labels at the same time such as GPR (General production recordings), Rising high records and Apollo. 1991 to 1995 was for me the best era of electronic music. Enjoy!

Artificial intelligence

Imagining the journey of a Blade runner, a skin job, in Los Angeles circa 2019 and using Vangelis covers and mainly tracks inspired by the soundtrack, I created an imaginary journey of Rick Deckard strolliing in LA 2019. Sound bytes from the sectors of Blade runner, tracks and samples from the movie were used. It’s a trip into the words of the LAPD, Bryant, Gaff, Deckard, Dick’s universe, product placement and obviously, an hommage to Vangelis…All those moments will hopefully not be lost in time...
