JS Alvarez is a shape shifting lizard that succumbs to no one genre and can be found exploring the depths of mutant techno and unruly bass music alike. He is the founding member of Research & Development. ﻿What started as a monthly event series at Smartbar took on a new path with a biweekly mix series focused on nurturing new sounds, experiences and atmospheres while exploring the music and culture it was born or mutated from. Piante Vive is a collaborative project that came to life in late 2023, the result of two friends and producers who began making electronic music together, heavily influenced by Milan’s techno scene and their contrasting yet complementary backgrounds.

On one side, @Biocym brings a foundation in deep techno, characterized by hypnotic grooves and rhythmic depth. On the other, Succo hails from the Italian trap and hip-hop scene, focusing on melodic structures and atmospheric, ambient elements. This blend of influences led them to produce tracks that pull from various musical genres, creating a rich and layered sound.

Piante Vive represents the fusion of both artists’ distinct artistic sensibilities while allowing them to dive deeper into their shared musical expression. Their sound, reflected in this nearly two-hour recording, showcases organic, deep, and profound techno that encapsulates their evolving vision and collaboration.

I first met him a few years ago and have had the pleasure of hearing him play on several occasions. 
His sets are always dynamic and rich in detail, blending energy and finesse to create something truly unique. So, I’m really glad to finally share one of them with you.

Essē is the project of a DJ, producer, and label owner based in Milan.
The research is defined by the open range of experiences words can’t describe; it’s the result of a constant relationship with observation and learning. As a curator, his sound varies in form and time according to the mood, the environment and participants.
Vuoto, his label, was born to freely express the continuous transformation that we are subjects to. Its concept is a non-identity, that aims to create a space without artistic framing.

In this episode of Oneiroi, @bbecks welcomes Desiree’, an Italian artist based in London whose sound drifts between eerie & hypnotizing alien tones, deep atmospheric textures blended with ambient, mesmerizing vocals and sci-fi surroundings. 
Influenced by old-school hip-hop, jazz, and electronic music, her journey through the underground scene shaped her unique approach to DJing.
Together, they will be travelling through immersive soundscapes, layered drones, and organic textures, experimenting with sound and form in an open-ended exploration.
