On Halloween 2021 David Castellani debuted his modular techno live performance at the WORK warehouse, curated by @synthetikminds and 6AM.

His one-hour live set ahead of Hotflush Recordings boss Scuba was captured, and is this week's Global Vibe Radio episode.

David Castellani is a techno producer and modular synthesist with a main focus on peak-time, dance floor-driven energy. David’s sound, fueled by an array of analog hardware, showcases the intricate aspects of modern music production, while staying true to the fundamentals that inspire you to let loose on a dark warehouse floor.

Italian-born Castellani moved to Chicago in his early years and began his musical journey as a percussion player focusing on jazz-fusion. After an extended focus on classical training, David began pursuing electronic music production which led to a catalogue of releases, collaborations, and remixes by respected artists like Superfreq boss, Mr.C.

Now living in Los Angeles, Castellani launched his new record imprint, Noetic, which cultivates smart and dynamic techno music. With a heavy focus on modular synthesizers and analog hardware, both Castellani and Noetic feature a boundary-pushing feel, filled with hypnotic sound design, explosive lead lines, futuristic sound palettes, and driven rhythms.

Outside of music, you can find David digging into the many facets of design as the co-owner of the art-driven fashion line, After Infinite, as well as, partial founder of the new modular synthesizer company, Anti-Kulture.

I (madeofants) had the pleasure of seeing Aza play a number of years ago at the Backstreet lounge and have been a huge fan ever since. Her intensity is mesmerizing and seeing her throw down at Tangent and also evolving her sound from hard techno into something melodic and groovy that is an absolute treat. 

Catch her live to really experience the breadth and intensity of one of the most hardworking musicians I have the pleasure of knowing but this little taste should hold you over until then.

ARCMIX025 - ARC Presents AZA

Here is a recording from the up and coming AZA recorded at Midwest Freaks last December in Madison, where IT, Intellephunk and Remain in Night united for a secret warehouse party. How can you explain being lost in the Midwest and spending all night with non stop rave alchemy in a secret warehouse? This type of thing really fills you with hope for the future. 

AZA is techno as a living being. She was born in SF to parents who had immigrated from Trinidad and Tobago of the West Indies. She grew up within music, from the music of the Caribbean (ranging from Dub and Reggae to Calypso) to the sounds of Jazz and Funk, which led her to singing in operas resulting in a college scholarship for voice. Her greatest revelation came when her mother took her to Movement and she experienced techno. She says, “I feel blissful when I create and play techno. It takes me into inner space travel. It is a place where I feel safe. The possibilities feel so endless in my techno explorations.” Experience that techno bliss with this moment of AZA at Midwest Freaks.

BCCO Podcast 380 is very special one. Today we are honoured to have electronic music pioneer Steve Rachmad aka STERAC with us with a two-hour set that was recorded live for promoter 01366 at the White Hotel in Manchester, UK.

Steve has used a range of aliases over his career reflecting his diverse outputs covering dub, disco and house. But STERAC’s focus has always been on the no-nonsense, darker, and deeper side of techno and this set is no exception to that.

BCCO Mix Series 380: Sterac

Rotterdam based underground dance music DJ. Recording music since 2012 under alias Lenson, responsible for Rotterdam Electronix. 

Born and raised on the outskirts of Rotterdam, Lenson (real name: Len Ander Som) is one of the up and coming underground Techno artists hailing from Europe biggest harbour city. Inspired by his brothers cassette collection, Lenson started his musical exploration at an early age. His first outing through his and Stranger's Paling Trax label that surfaced in 2015 with raw overdrived tools for dark basements.

With his unique, acidic and uncompromising sound he hold down several intense club nights throughout the country. With playing a broad mixture of Chicago House and Detroit Techno, lots of raw acid 90's cuts, adding EBM, Wave, Electro and Industrial excursions in his musical vision he definitely doesn't have a linear perspective in his DJ sets. 

Nowadays he's a staff member at Clone Records where he also started his new label project Rotterdam Electronix and more recent the Fusion of Thought imprint to release pure dancefloor Techno cuts, with a wide array of new artists.

The Advent (Live at Motor - Detroit)

This month on PoleGroup radio we are going to listen to a mix from Reeko, one of the members of the PoleGroup team.

Reeko has prepared us a mix flowing from techno to electro,  including tracks from Donato Dozzy, Surgeon, Cosmin TRG, CTRLS, Rhyw, Stefan Vincent, Tv.Out, Seleccion Natural, W1b0, Adapta and Meanad Veyl.

You can see Reeko playing as "Seleccion Natural" together with Exium and Oscar Mulero, on march 22 in Barcelona at Razzmatazz, on april 21 in Amsterdam for Awakenings and on april 27 in London at FOLD, another date to highlight is on march 30 in Fabrik Madrid with a b2b together with Jonas Kopp, with whom he has released an EP on Semantica end 2018.

Further on the releases side Reeko will release in march a re-edition of the track "the gravedigger and his bitch" track released for the first time in 2009, on his label Mental Disorder and he has a new release coming up on the  Avian imprint around may this year
