Piek is knocking at the door. Let him in. Subtle melodies, superb drumming, oscillating arp-synths and beautiful vocals that shrink the heart, these are the tools Piek has used to create this dreamlike composition. “That's me” (Trippin) is the first single from his highly anticipated debut album “Despertar”– set to be released via Sincopat on February 20th, 2017.
The original track is littered with delicate beats and intelligent textures. An electronic composition where Piek and Chilean vocalist Jim Hast work together to finally create human magnetism in a magical way. That’s Me is like a walk in the jungle on LSD with heavy bass lines, lush pads, distorted guitars and some smart lyrics by one the hottest writers in the advertising business: Tony Phillips.
Time for the higher-tempo tracks: the journey of pulsing techno and house beats, vivid synths and spacey vocals begins with Berlin-based duo Kyodai (Mule Musiq, Local Talk). They push “That's me” into a tunnel of Detroit oriented stabs, sweeping chords and an orgy of rhythmic details. Jim Hast’s trippy vocal sample rises and falls with metronomic intensity. Those who like tech-edged sounds will really appreciate this. 
In another world. Piek himself shows us his own vision with a club-oriented remix ‘Amnesia 88 Piek Club Mix’. A solid twist of an open-hearted electronic pop modern song into a booty-shaking, UK house influenced cut where a 303 bass line is the main hook. This one will make it for the old school house lovers. 
And finally AvantRoots head honcho Pablo Bolivar’s remix. More mercurial and late hours and club-oriented than usual. It retains the original's sleepy feel but he stretches it into a double-length house epic - replete with cosy beats and a trancey aesthetic background. Pablo once again shows his teeth. Great skills, trippy tricks. 
We are happy to have Piek back on Sincopat with this emotional, vibrant, absorbing and evocative single. Now get ready for the rest of the album, but don’t expect what you should expect… ☺

Over the past five years, elusive Berlin production duo Kyodai have gained support from some of the most respected players in the game, from Laurent Garnier and Masters At Work to Jimpster and Gilles Peterson. 
Known for their machine driven funk and techno influence they have an individual and timeless take on house music whether it's soulful, melodic or jacking. They released music on Exploited, Freerange, Pokerflat, Local Talk, Suol - just to name a few. 
Last year we were treated with the stand out track 'Houston In The Blind' - a collaboration with Daudi Matsiko and memorable Electronica and Bleakfolk. 
This year they return to Exploited with the house banger 'The Clone' which sounds like a fusion of Detroit, Berlin & Mallorca. Ready to get cloned.

Tunnelvisions, the collaboration project between Raynor de Groot and Emiel van den Dungen, approaches music with an open mind and fuses different musical elements together in their endeavour to bring back some warmth on the dance floor. Their very well received debut album ‘Midnight Voyage’, which was released on Atomnation last year, showcases their shared vision of contemporary club music in the most organic way possible.

In celebration of the album, Atomnation is set to release a remix package of ‘Midnight Voyage’, featuring remixes from Aera and Luca Musto, next to two alternative versions of ‘Guava’ coming from the hands of Tunnelvisions. With a multitude of shows lined up for this summer, among which a performance at DGTL Festival, the duo sets out to share their collaborative philosophy towards club culture.

All aboard the ‘Ark’: Two by two, four by four, whatever… Whichever way you want to board, the doors of this great vessel are open and Monaberry bossmen Super Flu are the proud captains.

Their first full voyage of the year, ‘Ark’ is a stately piece of techno noir theatre designed to wrestle the choppiest of dancefloor seas. A multi-layered narrative laced with crispy arpeggios and strange otherworldly talkbox textures, it’s an oceanic titan that ploughs through the heaviest of elements with grace and majesty.

‘Doppt’ takes us to the next waymark on the map. Gently rhythmic from the moment its first shakers kiss your ears, we’re soon satiated with tightly plucked percussive elements, subtle humanised textures and a sense of momentum that’s tightly coiled with suspense and drama in a way that only Super Flu know how.

Finally our feet touch terra firma with the mysterious afro house maverick Hyenah as he provides an earthy remix stampede. Why do we tell stories?

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs.

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human.

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun.

With ‘Tragedia', Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists all across the world to bring these themes to life.

There is much to laud here. Swiss Stil vor Talent heavyweight Several Definitions kicks things off with the afro-house of ‘Roots’ while Stevie R collaborates with vocalist Djanan Turan and violinist Master Dani on the huge ‘Misirlu (Acid Version)’, ahead of his soon-to-be-released debut album. The impactful opening trio is completed by ‘Mubaraq’, which marks the debut of Argentinian artists Brigado Crew and Crisstiano on Chapter 24, following their contributions to the Diynamic and Jeudi labels.

Hungarian Sobek adds to the package with the tense and powerful ‘Croco In The Marsh’. Then ESP Institute, Futureboogie and Culprit artist and hero of We Love…Space Ian Blevins offers ‘Tuesday’s Child’, a driving and melodic cut that paves the way for the breaks and synth workout of label co-founder Sam Pauli’s ‘Sleeper’.

Finally, Los Angeles-based Rinzen ends this wide-ranging compilation with ’Temple’, a forward-thinking widescreen progressive techno piece with the perfect emotional lift to close things out.

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories.

And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical phrase "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away...
