Doug has been DJing and producing records for two decades under various aliases and collaborations. The ‘Rabble’ EP will be the third release for An-i, and the first one since Gutz in 2015. The return of An-i has found him in even more brazen territory than on previous releases. He moves between musicality and chaos while remaining intriguing throughout – a testament to his uniqueness and integrity. The opener, ‘Rabble’, tonally crude and menacing, backed with a relentless primitive machine rhythm and a psychotic vocal parodying mob mentality, points at the absurdity of take-down culture. ‘Rubble’ follows, a mighty stripped-down instrumental dub. The flip, ‘Chapel Perilous’, is a wandering spaced-out journey into the psyche. It reflects on loss and ultimately freedom from one’s ego identity, meandering an uncertain path that results in a spiritual epiphany. “When I am nothing, everything is me”…

An-i’s Rabble EP will be pressed on 160-gram fluorescent yellow vinyl and housed in a high gloss black and white sleeve featuring ink brush painting by the artist. The tenth year of the π project revives the label’s Split Series with its third instalment, Split#3 by Unhuman & New Frames.

This is the second appearance on our Various Artists catalog for both Berlin-based acts, featuring individual and collaborative tracks from the artists.

Infamous for their industrial/EBM-leaning techno signature sound, Unhuman (Manos Simotas) and New Frames (Mathis Mootz/The Panacea/Squaremeter and David Frisch) join forces to elevate their production style even further.

Dancefloor killers for heads of diverse tastes, featuring one solo track from each artist per side, along with three complementary collaborative compositions. Side A showcases New Frames’ fresh-sounding crossover of industrial and dubstep with the track “Dubplate,” accompanied by the hard-hitting collaborative stompers “Commander” and “3rd Eye Cataract.”

Berlin based Producer/Dj Douglas Lee’s project ‘An-i is the outcome of melding the aesthetics of 80’s synth and industrial sounds alongside the thumping forward momentum of techno.
An-i has released 3 records for Veronica Vasicka’s Minimal Wave/Cititrax label and can also be seen on many one-off’s comps and collaborations with Alessandro Adriani, Unhuman and his project Bad News with LIES boss Ron Morelli himself to name a few.

Whilst An-I focuses on punk affected iterations of Dance music, Lee’s DJ career spans over 2 decades, having sustained several eras of Dance Music, he is capable of elevating dance floors through various states of abandon seemless moving between Techno, Disco and Noise across any era or tempo.

The 12” EP features recently uncovered recordings of Regis playing live in New York City on January 4th, 1997 at the famed New York Film Academy. Original tapes discovered by Evan Kreeger, studio work / transfers done by James Ruskin in London and audio mastered by Veronica Vasicka in New York. The EP will be pressed on 160 gram clear red vinyl and housed in a gloss sleeve, featuring text by Evan Kreeger. An excerpt is below:

A song with no title that I co-wrote with Gerardo Velasquez and Mikey Ochoa of Nervous Gender for a spin-off group that never materialized, The Imports. This was more of a joke/concept band than anything but this track somehow found its way onto the Nervous Gender/Beelzebub Youth split LP. Thanks to Danny Gromfin and the LAFMS tape traders for digging this up after 30 years.
