Zakmina presents a commanding dark disco release for Minimood with two spellbinding originals filled with unique and captivating sounds. The EP is complemented by compelling remixes from Curses and Rude 66. “Makam” comprises of an alluring array of instruments that create a mesmerizing atmosphere with an oriential mood to it. Curses retains this atmosphere in his remix, albeit with a deeper and darker tone. Unfolding a massive EBM vibe, “Mental Syndicate” forms a dancefloor destroyer that is driven by a vigorous kick and snare. The reimagining from Rude 66 features intergalactic vocals, raw electro sounds, as well as a truly addictive hookline.

departs on a journey through the more subtle shades of euphoria. As an enthralling special the artwork has been crafted by Milan based sculptor
Tillmann Lauterbach applying old plate printing techniques on Travertine stone.
The original track, 'Aeon,' by Tobias Oliver, is a stripped-back melancholic techno masterpiece. Its rolling bassline and synth punches throughout
induce a beautiful state of perpetual contemplation. Die Wilde Jagd constructs his ambient ‘Last And First Remix’ as an otherworldly story
from start to finish, where dreamlike drones, ripples and chirps transcend to uncharted places. The ‘Well Well Remix’ by AU Cheek hypnotizes with distorted sounds creating a murky atmosphere and offers an intriguing take on minimal techno. Focussing on a rolling bassline Ray Okpara’s ‘Lost Lovers Remix’ unfolds echoes of the synth from the original that swirl and flutter around in ghostly ways. The ‘Special Edition Dub’ is minimal dub techno in archetypical form provided by Bluetrain: his signature sound dub effects and addictive groove are irresistible. JS’s ‘Reflective Reshape’
forms a slice of blissed-out dub techno with quixotic white noise-filled depths. Lastly, Anton Kubikov navigates his ‘Frail Snowflakes Remix’
through minimal soundscapes guided by a floaty atmospheric acid bassline enhanced with robotic whispers.

Cementing their 25th release, Cologne-based record label Minimood gear up to issue the 7-track ‘Aeon’ EP from Vienna-based producer Tobias Oliver. In keeping with the occasion, the cover illustrates Tillman Lauterbach's plate printing techniques on terrestrial limestones...Contributors include Bureau B's regular Die Wilde Jagd, AU Cheek, Berlin-based producer Ray Okpara, JS, Kompakt's Anton Kubikov and Bluetrain. Our pick is Anton Kubikov's remix – a streamlined piece of dub techno ornamented with acid-infused bass and sluggish yet almost human-like modulation unsettling the atmosphere presided over by ultra-filtered kick drums. In a matter of seconds, Kubikov quietly pierces the unconscious mind with a dimly echoed pendulum of disembodied lethargy.

Earlier this year, Subwax Bcn made an important contribution to the electronic music community by having the timeless dub techno compilation Vibrant Forms II by Fluxion remastered and reissued. First released in the year 2000 on Chain Reaction, Vibrant Forms II is widely considered to be one of the greatest achievements in the genre. As it turned out, Vibrant Forms II became one of the last records to be released on Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald’s classic label – a suitable swan song if there ever was one. And that’s it, right?

Well not quite.

If one would search for Fluxion - Vibrant Forms III, Discogs would come up empty and Google would treat it as a misspelling. Until now.
Konstantinos Soublis, aka Fluxion, and Subwax Bcn have decided to pick up the banner and release Vibrant Forms III as a CD as well as four individual 12” records under 2016. It contains everything you could hope for and more: The massive, booming basses, the clicks and hisses, the atmospheric thunderstorms, the opium smoke-scented streaks of reverb and dub echoes. The warmth. Yes, above all else the warmth: Sometimes moist and dripping as in Safe Harbour, sometimes blisteringly dry as in Variant. It’s no easy task, giving cold, dead machines warm breaths. And no-one quite does it like Fluxion.

The Reissue of Vibrant Forms II was an act of cultural preservation. It reminded us about the legacy of the Basic Channel label family, in which Chain Reaction played an important part. Without this legacy, the contemporary body of electronic music would look different and make very different sounds. With the Release of Vibrant Forms III, Subwax Bcn takes it one step further. Fluxion’s Vibrant Forms III album remind us of the timelessness of truly great music, never mind the genre.
